Convert loyalty rewards points to JP miles with up to 30% bonus

In an offer that's being repeated for the third time this year so far, you can convert your points / rewards balance in other loyalty programs into JP miles, and earn up to 30% bonus miles in the process. Here's more.


This offer is pretty much identical to the ones in March and June this year. Points or rewards from the following loyalty programs can be converted into JP miles.

The conversion ratio into JP miles varies for each source program and, if relevant, the variant of that program, and the bonus depends on how many JPmiles result from the conversion, as:

  • 10% bonus if conversion yields 5000-9999 JPmiles
  • 20% bonus if conversion yields 10000-29999 JPmiles
  • 30% bonus if conversion yields 30000 or more JPmiles.


You will need to register for this promotion here, and convert your points by 20 October 2016, which is when this promotion expires.

Bottom line

I personally wouldn't convert from hotel loyalty programs to JPmiles. However, YMMV, if you value your JPmiles far higher than the hotel loyalty program points (for reference, you could use our points and miles valuations from earlier this year).

Rewards points with banking or other partners can be a hit or miss, depending on what's available on the rewards catalog of those programs. 

I'd imagine that the best approach here would be to use this offer to convert any orphan points (too few to be of much relevance or use and/or expiring soon) with other loyalty programs into JPmiles. Sure, this will likely not yield any bonuses, but I'd be fine with that as long as they do get some use in the form of JPmiles.

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hyatt was kind enough to hold my bags for the duration of the day (which is a surprise in today's world of terror threats), and I'm grateful to them for that. Kolkata's new terminal, and what a relief! (And lots of pictures)

For the longest time, Kolkata (CCU) had pathetic terminals – both for domestic and international flights – and it was high time they did something about it. Now, the Airports Authority of India must be complimented on the new Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The airport is really fresh, swanky, and actually makes the flying experience in and out of CCU a whole lot better. The new terminal is an integrated terminal for domestic and international flights, and set out in an wide “V” with unequal arms, the longer arm being the domestic side. The terminal building itself is at one end of the runway, and is to the right of the old terminal, when viewed from the city side (left from airside). Defunct airlines of India - Part 1

ASan and I met for lunch over the weekend. If you knew us personally, you'd know that we're both forever thirsty, if you get my meaning. You'd also know that there are always discussions around ideas for posts. Most of them are flights of fancy (pun intended!), and almost always unviable.
