IHG promotion for 2x points on all in-hotel spends

IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion will close by the end of April 2016. And while they've announced the next promotion - Share Forever - which is applicable to residents in North and South America, there isn't a specific promotion for other geographies, except for the book directly promotion that offers up to 30,000 points for 3 stays in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Instead, IHG has come up with a promotion that rewards members with 2x IHG Rewards Club points on all in-hotel spending, till 31 December 2016.

So instead of the usual 10 points per $, members will earn 20 points per $ spent on all in-hotel items added to the folio. The offer is valid for spends at participating InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn® hotels and resorts across Asia Pacific (excluding China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), Middle East and Africa. 

You will need to register for this promotion here. The bonus points will post only for spends after the registration date, so you should register right away as there's no downside to doing so!

The promotion page does offer the 2x points "when you charge your bill to your room". The T&Cs clarify that the 2x points apply on charges such as ...food and beverage, room service, laundry, telephone but will not include expenses incurred with any third party that is not hotel-managed like, Spa, other restaurant concessionaires.

While the offer is clear that it applies to spends at participating hotels across Asia Pacific (excluding China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), Middle East and Africa, it does not seem to require the member's address to be in any of those places. So, presumably, anyone can register for this promotion.

Here are the T&Cs:

Must be a IHG® Rewards Club member and must register member number in advance to participate in this promotion. 20 points per $US1 spent (“Double Points”) will be awarded on any non-room spend with a qualifying stay at any InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo® and Holiday Inn® Hotels & Resorts in Asia Pacific (excluding China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), Middle East and Africa between 15 April and 31 December 2016. Double Points will not be awarded on room rate. Non-room spend must be charged to your room to be settled at point of check-out and can include charges on food and beverage, room service, laundry, telephone but will not include expenses incurred with any third party that is not hotel-managed like, Spa, other restaurant concessionaires. Points will not be awarded for meeting and banquet charges, Business Centre services or any other facilities that are not managed by hotel. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion unless otherwise stated. Only one room per member per stay at participating hotels will be awarded the applicable bonus. No retroactive bonus points or miles will be awarded for nights prior to registration. A Stay is defined as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out. A Stay constitutes a “qualifying Stay” when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. Please allow up to 4 to 6 weeks for points to be credited after checkout.
