The week that was - 17 July 2016
Here's a round up of the week that was - a summary of posts on this blog as also other things travel, aviation, points and miles that we found interesting.
The big news of the week has got to be the massive changes that Jet Airways has brought in by way of Fare Choices, where your booking fare class drives everything - cancellation charges, rebooking, lounge access, voucher use, you name it - that's got to do with flying Jet. And add to that, the changes to earning JP miles, tier miles and tier points, and we've just got ourselves a really bad weekend.
In other news, we think we've found a workable solution to keep readers posted about all ongoing promotions that we write about.
Hope you had a great week, and here's wishing you the very best in the next one!

Hope you had a great week, and here's wishing you the very best in the next one!
- Monday, 18 July 2016, is the last day to buy Hilton HHonors points with 80% bonus.
- IHG's book direct promo can earn you up to 30,000 IHG Rewards Club points. And the promo period has been extended to 31 December 2016. A great opportunity to top up your IHG account.

Airline stuff
- Air Vistara's back with a rather weak 20% discount on weekend business class travel.
- Tuesday, 19 July 2016, is the last day for Qatar's global sale up to 50% discount (including business class), along with 2x Qmiles.
- Earlier this week, Jet Airways also announced extra charges for excess cabin baggage in addition to the fare choices and gutting of the JP program.
Trip reports and stuff
- From my London and Dublin trip: Jet Airways Business Class review on the B737 from MAA to AUH, the fantastic time I had at the Etihad First Class Lounge & Spa in AUH, and on-board Etihad's A380 AUH-LHR service in Business Studio.
- The results are out, and I did earn what I expected to from my first mattress run, making it seem quite worth it!
Credit cards
- Axis Bank and Air Vistara launched their co-branded credit card, which looks pretty good on paper at least.
Other good reads
- What a volte-face by the once-king of low-fare flash sales, now at Air Vistara.
- Fascinating photos from pilots-on-the-job.
- Is there a sustainable future demand for the A380?
