The week that was - 10 July 2016
Here's a round up of the week that was - a summary of posts on this blog as also other things travel, aviation, points and miles that we found interesting. Hope you had a great week, and here's wishing you the very best in the next one!
- Hilton announced some hotel category changes a few days back, though we wrote about it only this week. Changes take effect 13 July 2016.
- Hyatt made changes to hotel categories as well, though these take effect 1 August 2016. What's more, if you've already booked under the old rates in the case of properties taking a category downgrade, you'll be refunded the extra points.
Airline stuff
- Etihad's running a promotion to convert loyalty points from select partner programs to Etihad Guest miles, with a 25% bonus. Check it out.
- The new kid in town is Value Alliance, an airline alliance made up completely of low-cost carriers based in South East Asia.
- Talking about low-cost (low-fare?) airlines, SpiceJet just added a small benefit for its SpiceClub members.
Trip reports
- ASan did a quick trip to London and Dublin. A detailed trip report is on the way, but here's what you can look forward to reading over the coming days.
- The Etihad First Class Lounge & Spa in Abu Dhabi is fantastic. While a detailed lounge review will follow as part of the above set of trip reports, here's a quick peek of the lounge in 10 pictures.
- Speaking about lounges, another lounge review here - this time, the Chennai International Airport Travel Club lounge...not the world's greatest lounge, but infinitely better than its counterpart, the Port Lounge in Chennai.
Other good reads
- I read this rather longish piece just before I was to enter border control at LHR. Imagine the horrors!
- Feel at home in a Boeing 727-200? Try this.
- Feel like being on global media? Marriott is looking to cast some of its Marriott Rewards members in some sort of promotional video. There's still a bit of time left to apply.
