Qatar global sale up to 50% off, plus 2x Qmiles

Qatar is running a sale for up to 50% discount on both economy and business class tickets, valid for bookings till 19 July 2016, for travel between 1 October and 10 December 2016. In addition, booking under this sale entitles you to double Qmiles, which is the currency of Qatar Airways' loyalty program Privilege Club.

Here are some of the published lowest possible fares ex-India, which are lowest fares on some date during the travel period for the promotion. There's no guarantee that your fare will be exactly the same.

I tested out some fares ex-India, and note that 

• the discounts aren't really 50%, though it is clear that there are some discounts to be had, and
• there are other airlines - Sri Lankan and Kuwait Airways in particular - which offer normal fares that are lower than Qatar's on some routes.

That said, I did find some good prices, though the discounts may not really be as high as 50%. Check out MAA-LHR business class return below, priced at just under Rs 102,000.

On another route - BOM-CDG, I the lowest fares on every date in October was on Qatar.

Conclusion

I note that the return fare to Paris, at Rs 96,900, is probably the best available deal under this promotion in business class. For economy class, I'd think the London an Athens fares look pretty good. Overall, a decent promotion, if you've got something coming up.
