Club Carlson status matches now available

Club Carlson is not a program we've written about much on this blog. Three posts, to be exact! That said, many of you may be members of the Club Carlson program (covering Radisson, Park Plaza, Park Inn, and Country Inns & Suites hotels). And so you may be interested in Club Carlson's status match to Silver and Gold, that they're currently running. There's even a dedicated landing page for this offer. Read on for more.

Here's all it takes. According to the landing page for the status match offer,
We know feeling rewarded is important to you, and you deserve special treatment when you're on the road. Club CarlsonSM is proud to offer Elite status match for most hotel loyalty programs. If you have elevated status with another hotel loyalty program, you may be eligible to receive an Elite tier upgrade with Club Carlson.
Here's what we'll need from you to process this request*:
  • Send us your full name
  • Club Carlson membership number
  • Name of other frequent guest program
  • Membership number and tier level of the other frequent guest program
  • Copy of your membership card from the other frequent guest program (PDF or JPG files only)
Submit by email to statusmatch@carlsonrezidor.com (please include "Status Match" in the subject line)
Enjoy an exceptional experience with Club Carlson Elite status.

Depending on your current status with another loyalty program, you could be matched to Club Carlson Silver or Gold. I applied for the status match yesterday on the strength of my Hilton HHonors Diamond status, and got a response today that I've been matched to Club Carlson Gold.

Here are the benefits of Club Carlson Silver and Gold levels, to which one could be matched:

In India, Club Carlson has properties in all of these places.

Conclusion

In recent years, I haven't stayed much at Club Carlson properties. My last was nearly 3 years ago at the Radisson Mahabalipuram, near Chennai. Club Carlson Concierge level is probably the most rewarding, but they won't status match to Concierge. That said, having some status is better than no status, so if you ask me, you should give the status match a shot.

Comments

  1. Just wondering if it makes sense to status match when you are not planning on staying there for a while. Wont you be downgraded and thereafter maybe it may be more difficult to get a status match offer.

    1. Yes, downgrade will happen if you don't meet requalification criteria. But status matches don't happen all the time, so I recommend using it when it is available. Who knows, you may end up having a stay and benefiting! And you could use the matched status to leverage with other programs, when the opportunity arises.
