40% off on 2nd night at Sheraton hotels when you pay with your American Express card

Starwood is running a promo at its Sheraton hotels, targeted at American Express card holders. The promotion is virtually identical to the one they ran last October, and offers a 40% discount on every second night's stay at a participating Sheraton hotel, paid for with an American Express card. Here's more.


The promotion is valid on stays till 30 September 2016 with Sheraton hotels only, when you pay with an Amex card. Every 2nd night earns a 40% discount, which works out to an overall 20% discount. Also, several of the participating hotels seem to be throwing in a free breakfast as well. However, note that the rates will be fully prepaid and non-refundable, so I'd suggest you book only if you're absolutely sure of going.

  • Reservations must be booked online through this offer or through a Starwood Customer Contact Center. If making a reservation through a Customer Contact Center, callers must mention promotion codes P4B and P4C. 
  • A minimum stay of two (2) consecutive eligible nights is required at hotels while the minimum night requirement will vary at resorts.
  • Offer is for 40% off the best available unrestricted retail rate of every second eligible night.
  • Free night awards cannot be redeemed for first night stay.
  • Advance purchase required. American Express® Card will be charged at time of booking. Reservations cannot be changed, are pre-paid and non-refundable; if cancellation takes place, guests forfeit total room charge plus tax. Offer valid when you book and pay with any American Express® Credit or Charge Card.
  • Offer is only valid for bookings made using promotion codes P4B and P4C. For reservations not confirmed through this offer in advance, no savings will be applied upon departure.
  • Blackout dates and other restrictions may apply and vary by property. See individual property for details.

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hyatt was kind enough to hold my bags for the duration of the day (which is a surprise in today's world of terror threats), and I'm grateful to them for that. The Le Meridien has standard and chic rooms as two of their base category rooms. As I mentioned in the introduction post, I booked a chic room on an award. Kolkata's new terminal, and what a relief! (And lots of pictures)

For the longest time, Kolkata (CCU) had pathetic terminals – both for domestic and international flights – and it was high time they did something about it. Now, the Airports Authority of India must be complimented on the new Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The airport is really fresh, swanky, and actually makes the flying experience in and out of CCU a whole lot better. The new terminal is an integrated terminal for domestic and international flights, and set out in an wide “V” with unequal arms, the longer arm being the domestic side. The terminal building itself is at one end of the runway, and is to the right of the old terminal, when viewed from the city side (left from airside). Defunct airlines of India - Part 1

ASan and I met for lunch over the weekend. If you knew us personally, you'd know that we're both forever thirsty, if you get my meaning. You'd also know that there are always discussions around ideas for posts. Most of them are flights of fancy (pun intended!), and almost always unviable.
