3 fantastic Hilton HHonors points earning opportunities - possibly targeted

Hilton HHonors currently has three awesome opportunities to earn a large number of HHonors points. While some or all of the 3 offers below may be targeted, it is possible that you can register for one (or two or all three) of the promotions. So I thought it would be useful to update readers on these promotions. Who knows? You might be in luck, big time! 


5,000 points after a 2-night stay at Waldorf Astoria or Conrad hotels

This is identical to one of the earlier offers I'd written about here, which expired at the end of April 2016. A stay of 2 or more consecutive nights at a Waldorf Astoria or Conrad hotel will earn 5,000 points. Registration and the stay have to be completed before 31 December 2016.


While the offer appears targeted, you can try registering using this link, and potentially earn this bonus. The T&Cs for this promotion are:

While this promotion is targeted, so was the previous one of the same nature that ended April 2016. I was not targeted, yet was able to register for the promotion and earn the 5k bonus after a 2-night stay at the Conrad Centennial, Singapore.

10,000 points on your next stay of 2 or more nights

You can earn 10,000 points on your next stay that's of 2 or more nights' duration. This appears to be a targeted offer, and registration is required by 12 January 2017.

Note, that stays at Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Curio by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton and Embassy Suites will earn 10,000 HHonors Bonus Points, while stays at Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton will earn 5,000 HHonors Bonus Points.

50,000 points for staying 4 nights

This is the biggie! You can earn 50,000 bonus HHonors points after staying 4 nights (need not be consecutive / part of the same stay) within 90 days of registration.


Registration is required on or before 10 July 2016, and can be done here, if you were targeted. Here are the T&Cs for this offer:
Offer is valid for the recipient of this email only and is non-transferable. Members who register for the HHonors 50 Promotion by July 10, 2016 and then stay four nights within 90 days of registration will receive 50,000 HHonors Bonus Points. A 'stay' is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again. You must provide your HHonors account number at the time of booking. Please allow six to eight weeks from completion of your fourth night stay for Bonus Points to appear in your account. Offer is not valid for groups and cannot be combined with other select offers.

For this promotion, what counts is the number of nights, and not stays. So you could potentially accumulate 4 nights over 4 separate stays. You can register for this promotion here.

However, keep in mind that the 4 nights need to be completed within 90 days of registration. So to max out on this 90-day period, you should register on the day of your first stay. If you have no stays till 10 July 2016, then register on that date (which is the last date for registration).

Conclusion

As I've mentioned earlier in this post, the promotion for 5k points does not seem to be targeted, since those who haven't received the emails are also able to register. The other two are targeted, but sometimes, speaking to an agent at Hilton HHonors can get you registered for such promotions, even if you weren't targeted.
The T&Cs state that the offers cannot be combined. However, I've personally had experiences with HHonors, of being able to stack promotions that were otherwise stated as cannot be combined. Assuming they are indeed stackable, I would suggest 2 stays of 2 nights each at Waldorf Astoria or Conrad hotels. The 5k and 10k points offers don't appear to be repeatable.

Hilton HHonors is sort of my go-to program for benefits. HHonors Gold is generally acknowledged to be the best mid-level elite tier across all programs, and I can see why. The bonus points earning opportunities are better, the status comes with free breakfast for up to 2 guests, room upgrades, and lounge access (if upgraded to an executive room; though often, you can get it just by asking for it).

IHG promotion for 2x points on all in-hotel spends

IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion will close by the end of April 2016. And while they've announced the next promotion - Share Forever - which is applicable to residents in North and South America, there isn't a specific promotion for other geographies, except for the book directly promotion that offers up to 30,000 points for 3 stays in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Instead, IHG has come up with a promotion that rewards members with 2x IHG Rewards Club points on all in-hotel spending, till 31 December 2016. So instead of the usual 10 points per $, members will earn 20 points per $ spent on all in-hotel items added to the folio. Of all the reasons to scrap a flight...and not just any flight

At 7,807 miles, Air India's AI191 from BOM to EWR may not be anywhere near the longest scheduled and operating commercial flight in the world. But it is, along with UA49, the longest flight ex-India, and it is on the verge of being cancelled. The reason? Billboards (hoardings). That's right. There are three billboards of supposedly unreasonable height on the main road that runs perpendicular to the main runway at BOM. And so, the 340-seater B777-300ER aircraft that plies this BOM-EWR route cannot be loaded beyond 260 passengers, due to reasons of take-off weight, so that it can safely clear this billboard.
