Great cash-back opportunity ends 6 April 2016 - GoIbibo app and Citibank joint promo

If you've been reading our blog for even a limited time, you'd have noticed that we don't normally write about cashback programs, offers and promotions. That's because cashback offers are usually rather low, at approximately the same level as earning points or miles (typically less than 3-4% of the transaction value). However, here's an offer that's rather more substantial, and we thought our readers might find it useful

Only for a limited period of time, GoIbibo and Citibank have tied up for an offer to provide cashbacks for specific transactions. Details below.




The cash back is offered for all bookings made on the Goibibo app (download here) and paid with a Citibank Credit card, at the following rates:

Airlines

  • Domestic Flights: INR 1250 cashback for a minimum booking value of INR 7500
  • International Flights: INR 2500 cashback for a minimum booking value of INR 25000

Hotels

  • Goibibo Offer: Flat 60% instant saving up to a maximum of INR 2700
  • Citi Offer: Additional 30% cashback up to a maximum cashback of INR 130


A few things to bear in mind though:

  • The Offer is valid on transactions done on Goibibo Mobile application.
  • To avail the Offer Customer need to enter coupon code CITIGO before payment. If coupon code is not entered correctly then Customer will not receive any cashback.
  • Cash back could be credited to the customer card account
  • The Offer can be availed once per product category (Domestic Flight, International Flight, Hotel) per card.
  • The Offer will be applicable to all Citibank Debit and Credit Card members (except Citibank Corporate cards members) during the Term
  • The time period for this offer would be starting from 00:00 hrs on 4 April, 2016 till 23:59 hrs on 6 April, 2016 shall be considered under this Offer.
  • Dates of Travel/Hotel Stay are completely open.
  • The Offer is valid on EMI and non-EMI transactions
  • It is mandatory for the Customers to pay with a valid Citibank credit or debit card issued in India only to avail the Offer.
  • Offer is valid on all Hotels available on Goibibo mobile app.
  • Offer is not valid for transactions made on IVR/Phone with Goibibo Customer Care.

The reasons this is a great offer are that there are limited restrictions, and the cashback levels can be as high as 15-16%. The only real restrictions are that the bookings should be only using the GoIbibo app and payment only using specific Citibank credit cards.

I personally don’t use the Goibibo app or the main website on a very regular basis. Having said that, they are the default service provider that Premier Miles have tied up with though for all Flight and hotel redemptions and purchases. So if your looking at redeeming some of those hard-earned Premier Miles, GoIbibo are the ones that would ultimately ticket your flights or make the hotel reservations.

Hotel review: Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium

As part of my recent business visit to Singapore, I spent an extra night there just so I could catch up with friends, some of whom I haven't met in over a decade. And because I needed one more stay to qualify for the bonus under IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion , and also simultaneously earn a few more IHG Rewards Club bonus points under the Book Direct promotion, I decided I was going to spend the extra night at an IHG hotel.
