Promotions: Up to 3x Etihad miles with Etihad Airways Partners

In early October 2014, Etihad announced the launch of Etihad Airways Partners, a quasi airline alliance whose members are airlines that Etihad has investments and other strategic tie-ups with. They have now announced a promotion that offers up to 3x Etihad Guest miles for travel in first / business class with specific member airlines of the alliance, for flights between 25 February and 30 May 2015 (both dates inclusive).

The promotion details are as follows:

3x Etihad Guest Miles in First Class on
    • Etihad Airways
    • Jet Airways.
2x Etihad Guest Miles in Business Class on
    • Etihad Airways,
    • Jet Airways,
    • Alitalia,
    • airberlin,
    • Niki,
    • Air Serbia, and
    • Air Seychelles

The bonus miles can be earned on all Etihad Airways operated and marketed flights with the above airlines. You can register for this promotion here, which page also contains the T&Cs.

Some of the key points to remember here are:
  • you need to book before 10 March 2015, for travel between 25 February and 30 May 2015.
  • registration to the promotion is required separately for every passenger.
  • this promotion is only to earn Etihad Guest miles, and not miles in the respective airlines' FF programs.
  • promotion is not valid for economy class travel, and travel on Etihad Regional. From the language of the T&Cs, it does look like domestic travel within India on Jet Airways (in business class, of course) will be eligible for this promotion.
  • bonus miles earned don't count as tier miles.
  • bonus miles will be credited within 2 weeks of the promotion ending, that is to say, by mid-June 2015.

I've recently transferred some Citi PM points to the Etihad Guest program, and I may have some travel coming up that's eligible under this promotion. I'm hoping that'll help me pad up my Etihad Guest account a little bit, for award tickets I'm looking at later this year.

While there hasn't been much activity around the Etihad Airways Alliance so far, this particular promotion may be a sign of them kickstarting the alliance benefits with increased focus. Lets see what more is in store.
