Have you "Set your Sights" on the next IHG promo yet?

Earlier this week, IHG announced their promotion for Spring of 2015, called "Set Your Sights". In many ways, this is similar to the Into the Nights promotion for the last quarter of 2014, in the sense that there are a list of "targets" or goals to achieve (each of which carry their own bonus value), and an overall top up bonus if you do manage to achieve all your goals. This promotion will be valid for stays between 1 January and 30 April 2015, booked on qualifying rates.



You are required to register for this promotion, upon which you will be presented with a set of offers customised for you based on your stay history with IHG hotels. For new members and those with hardly any stays, expect something like this one below as your offer:


Staying at 2 different IHG brand hotels, one for 2 and one for 1 night, both booked directly with IHG, will help meeting offers 2, 3 and 4. Downloading the IHG app will meet #1, and then all that's left is to spend $100 on F&B during those stays. 

I think this is quite generous. However, the big difference between this and the Into the Nights offer is that this one requires achieving all the goals, while the previous promo allowed achievement of a majority of these (but not all) to qualify for the achievement bonus.

As a matter of interest, here's what I got.


This is an absurdly high number of points taken as a whole, and is probably the result of having had almost 20 nights with IHG hotels in 2014 (not the highest out there, but certainly high enough to qualify for a promotion for close to 88k points). The point of interest for me is the first goal, and the reason it is included: for having achieved the bonus in the previous promotion. That's not correct, because I did not achieve the bonus on the Into the Nights promo! But this is a gift horse, and so...

Unfortunately, I don't see myself making the most of this promotion.

I think in today's times, it helps to be an Accenture employee. I'm only talking from a miles and points perspective, of course!!! 50% off at Marriott in Thailand, for one night

Marriott is offering a 50% off for a single night, till 31 July 2014, in exchange for registering for / subscribing to their eNewsletter. I'm not sure what the connection is, but I think the fact that it is for a single night's stay may well be suggestive of promoting Thai tourism, if you know my meaning... But well...its there to be had. I know this isn't exactly an India-focussed deal, but I'm looking at another trip to BKK soon, and I think there could be others who might benefit from this. The 50% off is on the highest available rate. Bookings cannot be done online. Instead, it will have to be done by emailing bookmarriott@marriotthotels.com or by calling the hotel and quoting your cluster code (which is D58) and the voucher number (see steps below for getting the voucher). Qatar, Etihad and Gulf Air fare sales - ending soon

Three of the Middle-East based airlines are currently running fare sales. While Qatar's and Etihad's sales end on 5 and 6 September 2016 respectively (yeah, in a couple of days), Gulf Air's sale has only just begun. Here is more info on these sales, from an ex-India perspective. Qatar's Travel Festival Qatar's running a Travel Festival sale , offering up to 50% discounts on various routes, in business and economy classes. What's more, sales during this period will also earn 3x Qmiles, on Qatar's Privilege Club frequent flyer program. Book by 5 September, travel between 15 September 2016 and 30 June 2017. The sale offers discounts for one-person travel, and special fares when you travel in groups of 2 or 3 persons.
