UberGo now in India

You may recall that UberX was launched some time in September 2014. Now its time for UberGo, Uber's even lower cost transport option, and it is now in your city.

I've loved Uber ever since they launched, and they've been my go-to transport providers - particularly for weekends out. After they streamlined their airport pickup/drop costs and made them on par with other rides, I've taken a special liking to them!

UberGo will use vehicles like Tata Indica Vista and Maruti Suzuki Swift, as opposed to UberX (which uses Toyota Etios, Ford Fiesta and Maruti Swift DZire ) or the flagship Uber service (Toyota Innova and other high-end cars), so their costs will also be lower, at:

uberGO
Base Fare
start with this fare
Rs 40
Per Kilometre
distance covered
Rs 13
Per Minute
time taken in minutes
Rs 1
Minimum FareRs 80
This makes UberGo the cheapest Uber service, and likely cheaper than most other Radio Taxi services in India, and is cheap enough to be used as a daily commute (I would, except that I love driving myself!).

As a launch promotion, there's a Rs 400 off on your first ride if you use the code UBERGO-INDIA when you book, which I think is fantastic! In some cities, there's a flat 25% off on all UberGo charges, as a launch promotion.

If you haven't signed up for Uber yet, you could do so by simply downloading the Uber app. In addition, you could (but don't have to) use my affiliate code ubermilesandevenmore when you sign up - this means that both you and I will earn a further credit of Rs 300, that can be used on future rides.

Although I didn't write about it, Uber has now tied up with PayTM to offer payments via debit cards, and will also be able to apply the RBI's two-layer authentication mechanism for their payments. This comes on the heels of some worry on whether Uber might shut down in India, which thankfully they haven't - after all, India's their second fastest growing market after the US.
