Bonus JP miles with hotel partners - in one place

The vacation season is upon us, and there's tons of promotions out there for hotel stays. As I wrote earlier this week, Jet Airways has built a large bunch of non-airline partners over the years, where spends earn you JP miles. However, with the vacations just around the corner, I thought it might be useful to summarise the list of hotel partnerships that you might be interested in, which will also earn you JP miles (but not necessarily points in the the hotel's loyalty program).


RocketMiles

Rocket Miles is a hotel rates aggregating and booking engine that also allows you to earn miles in your choice of airline program.


I've written about Rocket before, but have never booked with them. Jet Airways is one of their newest partners, and you can earn bonus JP miles for booking your room using Rocket Miles and selecting JP as your earnings partner. If you aren't yet registered with Rocket, you could use my referral link and earn a further 1,000 miles in the program of your choice, on your first hotel booking.

Kaligo

Similar to Rocket, Kaligo is an online aggregation and booking engine for hotel rooms. Under the Kaligo-JP partnership, you can earn JP miles for your hotel bookings (you could also earn miles with Air Asia Big, American AAdvantage, Asia Miles and US Airways Dividend Miles programs).


The big differentiator here for me is that Kaligo offers a much larger spectrum of hotels than Rocket does, but seems to have fewer locations (at least the non-metro ones). Kaligo is currently offering 5k bonus JP miles on hotel bookings beyond Rs 20k, and 2k miles otherwise, for bookings and stays up to 31 January 2015.

3x JP miles plus US$ 25 voucher with Fairmont and Swissotel

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, and Swissotel Hotels and Resorts are both partners of Jet Privilege, where each stay earns you 500 JP miles. Both Fairmont and Swissotel are part of the same group, which explains the conjoined promotion for these two brands.


JP's promotion now is for 3x miles for stays at Fairmont or Swissotel properties. Since a stay normally earns 500 JP miles, this means 3 * 500 = 1500 JP miles per stay. In addition, you get a US$ 25 credit for use at the hotel. Note, that these promotions apply only for a minimum 2-nights stay, to be completed by 15 December 2014. Update on Marriott promo for social media interactions

A couple of months back, Marriott announced Marriott Rewards Plus, a promotion that offered Marriott Rewards points for social media interactions . You could earn points quite easily by: joining the promotion sharing or retweeting Marriott's posts to your Facebook or Twitter feeds each day checking into properties on Facebook or Foursquare every day you visit posting a photo each day to Instagram and tagging it with a property’s location using #LoveMarriottRewards, #RenHotels or #Autograph in your daily Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts liking and following select brands and properties in Facebook or Twitter You could earn a maximum of 2,000 points every 30 days till November 2014, making it a total of 12,000 points virtually free. But a lot of that has changed, suddenly and quite drastically. Smoking areas at Indian airports

I know its a dirty habit, but it has been around for nearly 7000 years! Granted, aviation is only a little over a 100 years old, but there always will be smokers. So here’s a low-down on smoking rules and areas in some airports: New Delhi  Terminal 1D (Domestic): Available, after security. Go to the food court on the first floor. The smoking room has been relocated to the ground level (all boarding gates) and is near the crew security area opposite Gate 13. Terminal 3 (Domestic): Available, after security. There’s one on the first floor – between the eateries and the lounges, one on the left just before the ramp towards the gates (at the end of the food stalls), and one behind the flight display screens between the left and right concourses.
