SPG targeted offer for up to 3 stay certificates after 4 stays (and another promo closing soon)

SPG has just launched the Select Member Exclusive promotion that offers up to 3 stay certificates for category 1 to 6 hotels, on completing 4 qualifying SPG stays between 15 July and 15 October 2014.


The promotion is not open to all, but is targeted. You may receive an email from SPG indicating your eligibility to enter this promo. However, you can also check here, where you need to enter your SPG number. The number of stay certificates you get will vary by member. And if you do end up with one or more stay certificates, you're best off using them at Category 6 properties (which would normally require between 20,000 and 25,000 points a night for an award stay), unless using it at a lower category hotel has better personal value for you.

Please do leave a comment to let me know what you were eligible for, since that will help me update this post with any variants of the promotion, and it will also be of help to other readers.

This particular promotion seems to be targeted at SPG Gold or Platinum members who haven't had SPG stays in a while, however that's just my view, given the rewards involved.

This is similar to another promotion - SPG Exclusive Rewards - that SPG currently has open. If you're interested, registration is open till 31 July 2014.


The variants to this offer are:
  • Book and complete a stay and earn one Free Night Award; book and complete two stays and earn two Free Night Awards.
  • Book and complete a stay through SPG mobile apps and earn one Free Night Award; book and complete two stays and earn two Free Night Awards.
  • Earn 2,500 bonus Starpoints for first stay and 5,000 bonus Starpoints for second stay.
  • Earn 1,500 bonus Starpoints for first stay and 2,500 bonus Starpoints for second stay.
  • Earn an extra five qualifying nights with your first stay and an extra five qualifying nights with your second stay.

I've not had any luck personally with either of the above promos. Based on past experience and reports received, my take is that such offers are generally targeted at select audiences, such as non-Elites who have some (but not too many) stays with SPG. Having said that, the current promotion - Select Member Exclusive - would seem to be aimed at Platinums with just a few or no recent SPG stays, based on what's on offer.

I think in today's times, it helps to be an Accenture employee. I'm only talking from a miles and points perspective, of course!!! 50% off at Marriott in Thailand, for one night

Marriott is offering a 50% off for a single night, till 31 July 2014, in exchange for registering for / subscribing to their eNewsletter. I'm not sure what the connection is, but I think the fact that it is for a single night's stay may well be suggestive of promoting Thai tourism, if you know my meaning... But well...its there to be had. I know this isn't exactly an India-focussed deal, but I'm looking at another trip to BKK soon, and I think there could be others who might benefit from this. The 50% off is on the highest available rate. Bookings cannot be done online. Instead, it will have to be done by emailing bookmarriott@marriotthotels.com or by calling the hotel and quoting your cluster code (which is D58) and the voucher number (see steps below for getting the voucher). Qatar, Etihad and Gulf Air fare sales - ending soon

Three of the Middle-East based airlines are currently running fare sales. While Qatar's and Etihad's sales end on 5 and 6 September 2016 respectively (yeah, in a couple of days), Gulf Air's sale has only just begun. Here is more info on these sales, from an ex-India perspective. Qatar's Travel Festival Qatar's running a Travel Festival sale , offering up to 50% discounts on various routes, in business and economy classes. What's more, sales during this period will also earn 3x Qmiles, on Qatar's Privilege Club frequent flyer program. Book by 5 September, travel between 15 September 2016 and 30 June 2017.
