Hilton HHonors weekend promotion - up to 5k bonus HHonors points

Hilton's latest promotion for Q1 of 2014 is the weekend promotion - which is called either Weekend Getaways or Weekend Rewards. I'm not too fussed which name you use. This is for stays up to 30 April 2014, and registration is required - click here.



Under this promotion, you could earn bonus points as follows:

  • 1000 bonus points per night of stay, and
  • an additional 5000 bonus points for a weekend stay of 2 nights or more

A weekend is defined as Thursday through Sunday. So that means you could earn up to 9,000 bonus points, if you checked it on Thursday and checked out on Monday (4x1000 plus 5000 points). That doesn't mean that if you check in before Thursday, you're ineligible. But only the "weekend" (as defined for this offer) stays will count for the bonus points promotion. This, of course, is in addition to whatever normal points you will earn for your stay based on your portfolio.

There are quite a number of hotels that are not participating in this promo, but thankfully none of them are in India - in fact, no more than a handful outside of the US.

This promotion is a good one to earn some bonus points on the cheap, or top up your kitty. Redeeming HHonors points in India can be quite expensive (unless you're at the Hamptons Alkapuri, Vadodara, that sells for 5k HHonors points a night). There's a potential hack involved, if you are able to stay Thursday and Friday nights at one property, and Saturday and Sunday nights at another property (and therefore another booking). That may well mean an extra 5k bonus points for the 2nd stay of 2 nights or more. Do let me know if you plan to try this, and your results.

Here are the full T&Cs for the weekend promotion:
  • *“Long Weekend” is defined as Thursday through Sunday night. 
  • The offer (“Weekend Rewards”) is valid for eligible stays completed between February 1, 2014 and April 30, 2014 ("Promotion Period") at any participating hotel or resort in the Hilton Worldwide portfolio click here for hotels who have chosen to not participate. 
  • Hilton HHonors™ members must first register at HHonors.com/WeekendBonus prior to check-out of your stay within the Promotion Period. Registered HHonors members will receive the bonus only for nights completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends. 
  • Registered HHonors members will earn 1,000 HHonors Bonus Points per night of their stay during the Promotion Period. In addition, registered HHonors members will earn 5,000 HHonors Bonus Points for a two-night consecutive weekend stay within the Promotion Period. For the purposes of this offer “weekends” are defined as Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. 
  • Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward tier qualification. Please allow six to eight weeks from completion of your stay for points to appear in your HHonors account. Offer is not transferable, is not valid for groups and cannot be combined with other select offers. 
  • Hilton HHonors™ membership, earning of Points & Miles™ and redemption of Points are subject to HHonors Terms and Conditions.

I think in today's times, it helps to be an Accenture employee. I'm only talking from a miles and points perspective, of course!!! 50% off at Marriott in Thailand, for one night

Marriott is offering a 50% off for a single night, till 31 July 2014, in exchange for registering for / subscribing to their eNewsletter. I'm not sure what the connection is, but I think the fact that it is for a single night's stay may well be suggestive of promoting Thai tourism, if you know my meaning... But well...its there to be had. I know this isn't exactly an India-focussed deal, but I'm looking at another trip to BKK soon, and I think there could be others who might benefit from this. The 50% off is on the highest available rate. Bookings cannot be done online. Instead, it will have to be done by emailing bookmarriott@marriotthotels.com or by calling the hotel and quoting your cluster code (which is D58) and the voucher number (see steps below for getting the voucher). Qatar, Etihad and Gulf Air fare sales - ending soon

Three of the Middle-East based airlines are currently running fare sales. While Qatar's and Etihad's sales end on 5 and 6 September 2016 respectively (yeah, in a couple of days), Gulf Air's sale has only just begun. Here is more info on these sales, from an ex-India perspective. Qatar's Travel Festival Qatar's running a Travel Festival sale , offering up to 50% discounts on various routes, in business and economy classes. What's more, sales during this period will also earn 3x Qmiles, on Qatar's Privilege Club frequent flyer program. Book by 5 September, travel between 15 September 2016 and 30 June 2017.
