Up to 25% off on hotels, when booking on PremierMiles' site (I'm not so sure)

PremierMiles from Citibank is offering a deal of up to 25% off on hotel bookings this monsoon, on all bookings made through their PremierMiles site. Promoted as a monsoon offer, this is for a limited time period and is valid for all bookings made till 15 October 2013 - that's a month to go, so it may be useful.

The fine print says that the discount is limited to Rs 1,000 per transaction, which isn't much, but I'm not sure how to interpret this.

But I decided to test this out, and here are my findings. Do remember, YMMV.

I did do a check using a SINGLE sample. Now I agree that isn't much to go by, but here's what I found, for a random stay at the ITC Maurya, New Delhi, for 24-30 September:

Cancellation & Amendment Policy :
  • Full refund if you cancel this booking by 22-Sep-13 12:00 PM IST.
  • First night cost (including taxes & service charge) will be charged if you cancel this booking later than 22-Sep-13 12:00 PM IST. You might be charged upto the full cost of stay (including taxes & service charge) if you do not check-in to the hotel.
  • Most hotels do not allow unmarried / unrelated couples to check-in. This is at full discretion of the hotel management. No refund would be applicable in case the hotel denies check-in under such circumstances .
Hotel Policy :
  • You must be 18 to check in to this hotel.
  • Your credit card is charged the total cost above at time of purchase. Prices and room availability are not guaranteed until full payment is received.
  • Failure to check into the hotel, will attract the full cost of stay at the hotel being charged to your credit card.
  • Changes or cancellation may result in fees up to full cost of your stay as per below
  • All hotels charge a compulsory Gala Dinner Supplement for the Christmas eve and New Year ' s eve on the stay during respective periods. Besides, other special supplements may be applicable during festival periods such as Diwali, Dusshera etc.
  • The charge for the same as applicable at the hotel would have to be cleared directly at the hotel.
  • We shall not be responsible for any such additional charges levied by the hotel other than the room charges.
  • Most hotels do not allow unmarried / unrelated couples to check-in. This is at full discretion of the hotel management. No refund would be applicable in case the hotel denies check-in under such circumstances.
  • Please note that it takes minimum of 4 to 8 working hours to confirm a reservation at the hotel for same day check-ins.
  • For distant check-ins, you are not required to call the hotel to reconfirm the reservations. Your booking details will reach the hotel in time and the booking will be re-confirmed from our end.

There will be no charges before : 04 : 00 PM (Hotel Time), 22-Sep-2013.
Charges after 04 : 00 PM (Hotel Time), 22-Sep-2013 : ` 3,600.
In the event of a refund due from us, please note that the same will be processed within 10 business days from the date of cancellation.

Now I know that the rates on the ITC website appear to be before taxes, so I had that checked out. The Rate of Rs 6,000 is all inclusive, as this shows:


Essentially, breakfast costs Rs 5,008 (~US$ 80)?????

So then I realised my mistake. ITC has a 20% offer on its own, for stays longer than 3 days. That's why I searched again, this time for only one night (check in 24 Sep, check out 25 Sep). Here's what I found. The first rate is on Premier Miles, and the second on ITC's website:


Breakfast is now costlier by Rs 18, at Rs 5,023 per breakfast.

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hotel review: Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium

As part of my recent business visit to Singapore, I spent an extra night there just so I could catch up with friends, some of whom I haven't met in over a decade. And because I needed one more stay to qualify for the bonus under IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion , and also simultaneously earn a few more IHG Rewards Club bonus points under the Book Direct promotion, I decided I was going to spend the extra night at an IHG hotel.
