Sully! At a movie hall near you, real soon (hopefully!)

Courtesy our constant, never-ending quest for points and miles and travel to a great extent, we can safely conclude that most of us are aviation aficionados at the base of it all. And it isn't every day that you get to see a film that’s centered around aviation releasing as well. (I still get my yearly fix of Top Gun even after all these years). That said, the only thing that beats watching these aviation movies, is watching these aviation movies on a plane!

Anyway, so I thought it might be useful to remind readers, that tomorrow is the worldwide release of the much awaited film Sully, an biographical account of the miraculous landing of a US Airways Airbus A320 flight number 1549 on the Hudson river, minutes after take-off, on 15 January 2009.

I haven't done a formal count, but Tom Hanks seems up there in terms of number of aviation related movies anyone's been in (think Terminal, and Catch Me If You Can!). So no surprise that he's playing the lead in the eponymously titled film.

(Sully, by the way, refers to Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the captain of the original US Airways flight 1549, and whose picture courtesy Wikipedia is on the right.)

The drama seems to be more centered around the investigation that ensued in the aftermath of the incident - more like a heavily dramatised episode of Air Crash Investigation, but then, I'm trivialising it.

I'm not going to kill the surprise by letting the whole story out here. But going by the trailer, I'm sure it would make for an interesting watch.

Going by the rushes, Tom Hanks seems to have certainly done a splendid job, yet again. Portraying a transport professional seems to be his forte with Captain Philips also being a great watch from a years back. In case you’ve not seen the Sully trailer as yet, you can watch it here.

Excellent make up, don't you think?
