SPG GONE NUTS? Hot Escapes has 1130 hotels on offer, and clearly seems to be an error

SPG has announced its latest list of Hot Escapes hotels, and it does look like an error (I'm sure the entire travel community will be really happy if it is NOT)! There's a total of 1,130 hotels offering discounted rates, this week. Mind you, the SPG chain is only 1,200 hotels big, so this week virtually every single hotel seems to be on offer! Swansong before Marriott swoops in?

SPG Hot Escapes hotels which are basically a selection of hotels hand-picked by SPG and made available at a reasonable to significant discount. Hot Escapes hotels are usually available at a discount of at least 15-20%, and going all the way up to 30-35%, but need to be booked by the Saturday. The deals are usually open for stays up to 6 weeks from the date they are announced.

According to the home page, this week’s Hot Escapes list has 1,130 hotels as follows (click on the hyperlinks under the zone names, to get the hotels available this week):

You can access the  SPG Hot Escapes landing page here, and all current offers at one go, here.

Here's why I think this offer is an error

If you take a look at the actual discounts offered for some of the hotels, across various regions, the discount is 0%.

That said, there are actually quite a few hotels on offer.

There are 10 properties from India this time round, with a discount that's not 0%, which you can find under the Asia page here. These include several hotels we've reviewed, such as the Westin Garden City Mumbai and the Westin Velachery Chennai.

SPG Hot Escapes are published every Wednesday (evening, India time), and are available to be booked by 10.30 am the following Sunday morning India time. Properties on offer may have Hot Escapes availability on different dates.
