Here's a 1000 IHG Rewards Club points for your first survey and to extend points validity
Here's a way to earn 1,000 IHG Rewards Club points, simply by completing a survey. This is also a great way to extend the validity of points in your account, especially if you haven't had any qualifying account activity in 12 months. Here's more.
Access here for the survey. The link takes you to an external site (Opinion Check In), where you need to input some of your information and IHG Rewards Club account number.
If you've not received an email from IHG on this offer, that may be because you've already registered with another online community. In that case, you'll likely receive an error like this one below.
One way to try and rectify that situation would be to write to helpdesk (details in image above). Alternatively, you could login to your account with Opinion Check In, and unsubscribe from that other community (if you can find it, that is!).
Once you've been able to register for this service and complete your first survey, the 1,000 points should post automatically to your account (may take a few days to a few weeks). Thereafter, you'll be targeted for responding to future surveys, each earning some points.
Keeping inactive accounts from expiring
Earlier, IHG Rewards Club never expired points on inactive (or infrequently active) accounts. However, starting May 2016, all that changed. According to IHG's FAQs,
To reward our guests who choose to stay with us more often, we focus more programme benefits toward members who earn and redeem on a regular basis. All points will expire after 12 months if there's no account activity.
Bottom line
Many organisations reward members for completing surveys - either directly, or by being a partner of a survey service (such as Hilton HHonors is with e-miles). This benefits both the member as well as the organisation sponsoring the survey.
In this current case, while 1,000 points isn't much on its own, signing up for this survey is a qualifying earn activity. That means these 1,000 points keep your account alive and all your points intact, for another 12 months, which may make it worth your time.
