SPG Select Member Exclusives are back again

Starwood began offering targeted member-exclusive deals a few months ago, that one had to register for, if they were eligible for it. These repeat every month, and is currently open for registration. Here's more.

These member exclusives seem to be targeted for each member at least once a year, though the type of offer and the size of it could differ each time. As in the past, this current promotion includes offers such as:

  • Bonus points (or graded points) after a specified number of stays
  • Free nights after a certain number of stays, and
  • Double stay credit towards elite status.

My personal offer was for 2,000 Starpoints after my second stay, 2,500 after my third stay and 3,000 after my fourth stay – totaling up to 7,500 points for a total of 4 stays.

There are also other offers, such as one for 3,000 points after every 3 stays, which works out to 9,000 points after 9 stays, and one for 6,000 bonus Starpoints after every 6th stay, for a maximum of 18,000 Starpoints. Other types of promotions reported this time include double stay credits (nights and stays) as also free night awards after completing a specific number of nights / stays with SPG.

If you have a stay-based promotion, those stays need to be completed between 15 August and 15 November 2016. Mind you, what’s required are stays, and not nights.

If you’re targeted, you would have received an email from SPG. Alternatively, check here, by trying to register.

Conclusion

My personal offer is for 7,500 points after 4 stays (in my case, that'll be 4 nights, I suppose, based on my travel patterns). The average award night across SPG hotels in India is around 4,700 Starpoints a night (though the median is actually just 3,000 points a night). So, 7,500 points will definitely get me 1 or 2 nights at an SPG hotel.

Here's the SPG award chart by hotel category.

A weekend stay will actually be more value for money, especially at category 1 and 2 hotels.

The fact that I can get this after just 4 stays (nights) means a 25% discount in theory (or at least about 20% in practical terms), makes this a pretty good offer in my personal context.

Readers: Are you eligible for an offer? If yes, do share your specific offer in the comments below, and whether you think that offer is worth staying with SPG.
