Etihad global sale up to 20% discount

It has been a rather busy two weeks at work, which is probably why I missed writing about this promotion earlier, even though it was announced about a week back. (We did write about the India part of the promotion). Anyway, there's still a couple of days left, to get up to a 20% discount on Etihad, which is celebrating the "summer of sports" with this deal (they cannot use the term "Olympics", due to whatever commercial restrictions that apply).

The discount is valid for bookings made by 21 August 2016, for travel from 1 September 2016 to 31 May 2017 (Travel between 8 September to 15 September, 24 November to 29 November and 15 December to 9 January excluded). 


The actual % discounts is based on point of sale, as 
  • 20% off discount from point of sale USA, India, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Japan, Netherlands, South Africa and Kenya and 
  • 10% off United Arab Emirates, UK, Australia and China point of sale.

You will need to use one of the following promotion codes at the time of booking, depending on the point of sale of the ticket:

The offer is valid on all Etihad flights from the points of sale above on Etihad's global network in Economy Class and Business Class only, for both one-way and return travel. It is also applicable on Etihad codeshare flights with Etihad Airways Partners. 

All bookings must be made on www.etihad.com to be eligible for this promotion.

The discount is only valid on the fare and not taxes, fees and charges. Importantly, note that the offer is not valid on Economy Flex and Business Flex fares. 

Etihad A330 business class

As in the case with the India sale, the full discount (10% or 20%) is not available across all routes and dates, indicating there may be some capacity restrictions. That said, there could well be some good opportunities here to reduce your fares a bit.

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hyatt was kind enough to hold my bags for the duration of the day (which is a surprise in today's world of terror threats), and I'm grateful to them for that. Hotel review: Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium

As part of my recent business visit to Singapore, I spent an extra night there just so I could catch up with friends, some of whom I haven't met in over a decade. And because I needed one more stay to qualify for the bonus under IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion , and also simultaneously earn a few more IHG Rewards Club bonus points under the Book Direct promotion, I decided I was going to spend the extra night at an IHG hotel. Luckily for me, just hours before my flight to Singapore, I was able to get a rate of SG$150++ a night, which is a fantastic rate for Singapore, especially for a booking as late as mine was.
