Register now for SPG's Triple Up promotion
SPG announced their next promotion for the summer of 2016 - Triple Up - some time in the middle of April. Registrations weren't opened up at the time we wrote about the promotion. But they are open now, and in my view, you should register for this promotion right away. Read on.
We also pointed out earlier that the possibility of 3x earnings in India is limited, due to the presence of only 3 Sheraton hotels:
To recap, this promotion earns you points as follows, on stays of two nights or more:
- 3x points at all participating Sheraton hotels
- 2x points at all other participating SPG hotels
- additional 1,000 points per stay that includes a Friday or Saturday night (Thursday or Friday night in the Middle East).
You can register here for this promotion. Registration is open till 17 July 2016, but as it the case with most promotions, there's no downside to registration, so you should do it immediately, just so that you don't lose out on bonus points from a stay. After successful registration, you will receive a confirmation on screen like so:
and an email confirmation as well. Here are the T&Cs for this promotion.
As we mentioned earlier, there are some non-participating hotels, and in India these include the following hotels not participating:
- ITC Sonar, Kolkata,
- The Park Chennai,
- The Park Kolkata, and
- The Park New Delhi.
The full list of participating properties is here.
- Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel At Brigade Gateway,
- Sheraton New Delhi Hotel and
- Sheraton Hyderabad Hotel.
In-room coffee service at the St Regis Mumbai
You can also track your progress under this promotion here, after you sign in to spg.com.
As a reminder, summer promotions have already been announced by Hyatt, Hilton, and IHG (for Americas only). In addition, IHG has a couple of other promotions for bonus points that are currently running, such as: 2x points for in-hotel spends, and up to 30,000 points for booking direct.
Conclusion
Double points are fairly standard now, so that doesn't excite me much. I do like the 3x points, but am disappointed that there are very few earning opportunities in India for that. And personally, most of my stays are one-nighters, which means I really won't be benefiting much from this promotion - but YMMV.
