Register now for IHG's Accelerate 2016 summer promotion

IHG has announced registration for Accelerate 2016's summer promotion, valid for stays between 1 June and 31 August 2016. As with the Accelerate 2016 Spring promotion (as also is the trend with their last few promotions), there are targeted offers for each member. It appears that this promotion is targeted at members who are not eligible for the Share Forever promotion that applies in the Americas.

There's a minimum bonus of 30,000 IHG Rewards Club points for new members. However, I'm an IHG Rewards Club Gold member, and have had 5 stays in calendar 2016 so far. Here's my offer:


In case the above image isn't too clear, here's my offer:
  • 3,000 points: Stay once
  • 7,500 points: Stay 5 nights
  • 3,200 points: Book 2 stays with the IHG app
  • 3,000 points: Stay a Sunday night + another night (Saturday or Monday night)
  • 2,000 points: Book a Bonus Points Package
  • 4,000 points: Book 2 stays for member-exclusive rates
  • 27,300 points: To complete 5 of the 6 offers above
  • 5,000 points: Stay once in June 2016.

That's a total of 55,000 bonus points, but will require at least 2 stays and a total of at least 5 stays. However, I need only to complete 5 out of 6 offers to earn the big bonus. 

So, based on possible combinations, I'd earn 47,500 points after just 3 nights spread over two stays. I'd need to book both those stays using the IHG App and on member-exclusive rates. The two-night stay should include Sunday night plus another night, while the one-night stay can be a bonus points package stay. If I do end up with 5 nights - which I think is highly unlikely - I'd earn a further 7,500 points too!

I may end up having to do a couple of mattress runs, kinda like the one I did at the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium last month.

This is quite easy to achieve with 2 stays and a total of 3 nights but the payoff isn't spectacular. Remember, 2 stays and 3 nights are what I need to achieve most of my offers too, where the payoff is far higher.

Stacking offers

The best part of IHG's promotions generally, is the ability to stack multiple offers and earn a truckload of points. And you can continue to do so now, by combining your offers under the Accelerate summer promotion, with IHG's OTA Book Direct offer (30,000 points with 3 stays booked directly) and double points for in-hotel spends.

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hotel review: Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium

As part of my recent business visit to Singapore, I spent an extra night there just so I could catch up with friends, some of whom I haven't met in over a decade. And because I needed one more stay to qualify for the bonus under IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion , and also simultaneously earn a few more IHG Rewards Club bonus points under the Book Direct promotion, I decided I was going to spend the extra night at an IHG hotel. Luckily for me, just hours before my flight to Singapore, I was able to get a rate of SG$150++ a night, which is a fantastic rate for Singapore, especially for a booking as late as mine was.
