IHG Sale up to 35% off for Asia, Middle East and Africa

IHG has announced a sale for up to 30%, with an additional 5% discount for IHG members), valid for bookings till September / October 2016 (country-specific), for stays between 1 June and 30 September / 15 October 2016 (country-specific). The offer includes breakfast for 1 or 2 adults sharing a room.

The rates apply only to participating hotels in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Booking and stay dates are as follows:
  • At participating hotels in Australasia, India, Middle East and Africa: Book by 15 October 2016, for stays between 1 June and 15 October 2016.
  • At participating hotels in Japan, Korea and South East Asia: Book by 15 September 2016, for stays between 1 June and 30 September 2016. 

The promotion excludes stays in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

At Holiday Inn, Kids 12 years and under stay for free sharing parent’s guest room in existing bedding and eat free from the all-day dining restaurant with an accompanying paying adult guest.

I was able to spot a $119 rate for the Intercontinental Marine Drive, Mumbai, which is a pretty good rate (I've stayed here at far higher prices).


Overall, IHG India hotels offer between 15% and 25% discounts.

In general, I find Asian hotels to be at a pretty high standard when it comes to customer service, and staff will often go to great lengths to ensure guests' requirements are met. I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hyatt was kind enough to hold my bags for the duration of the day (which is a surprise in today's world of terror threats), and I'm grateful to them for that. Defunct airlines of India - Part 1

ASan and I met for lunch over the weekend. If you knew us personally, you'd know that we're both forever thirsty, if you get my meaning. You'd also know that there are always discussions around ideas for posts. Most of them are flights of fancy (pun intended!), and almost always unviable. Kolkata's new terminal, and what a relief! (And lots of pictures)

For the longest time, Kolkata (CCU) had pathetic terminals – both for domestic and international flights – and it was high time they did something about it. Now, the Airports Authority of India must be complimented on the new Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The airport is really fresh, swanky, and actually makes the flying experience in and out of CCU a whole lot better. The new terminal is an integrated terminal for domestic and international flights, and set out in an wide “V” with unequal arms, the longer arm being the domestic side. The terminal building itself is at one end of the runway, and is to the right of the old terminal, when viewed from the city side (left from airside).
