Vistara launches service to Kochi ex Delhi and Mumbai

After adding Jammu and Srinigar to their network just over a month ago, Air Vistara today launched their Delhi to Kochi daily return service, via Mumbai. The new service piggy-backs on one existing DEL-BOM and BOM-DEL flight each way, and helps Vistara make yet another inroad into a tier-2 city under the DGCA's route dispersal guidelines. The service was launched today, 14 April 2016, to coincide with the local harvest festival and new year of Vishu.


Vistara will operate the route as follows:

UK 995 DEL BOM 1020 1225 BOM COK 1310 1520 
UK 996 COK BOM 1550 1745 BOM DEL 1830 2040

The flight numbers UK 995 and UK 996 refer to existing DEL-BOM and BOM-DEL services, which are now extended to serve COK.

Vistara is also running an introductory promotional fare of Rs 4,299 (all inclusive) on the BOM-COK route, which you can book here. IHG promotion for 2x points on all in-hotel spends

IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion will close by the end of April 2016. And while they've announced the next promotion - Share Forever - which is applicable to residents in North and South America, there isn't a specific promotion for other geographies, except for the book directly promotion that offers up to 30,000 points for 3 stays in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Instead, IHG has come up with a promotion that rewards members with 2x IHG Rewards Club points on all in-hotel spending, till 31 December 2016. Of all the reasons to scrap a flight...and not just any flight

At 7,807 miles, Air India's AI191 from BOM to EWR may not be anywhere near the longest scheduled and operating commercial flight in the world. But it is, along with UA49, the longest flight ex-India, and it is on the verge of being cancelled. The reason? Billboards (hoardings). That's right. There are three billboards of supposedly unreasonable height on the main road that runs perpendicular to the main runway at BOM. And so, the 340-seater B777-300ER aircraft that plies this BOM-EWR route cannot be loaded beyond 260 passengers, due to reasons of take-off weight, so that it can safely clear this billboard.
