Buy one, get one free on Malaysia Airlines Business Class
Two nights back, I wrote about Etihad's 50% off on business class fares from the US to several cities in India, Asia and the Middle East. Here's a sale by Malaysia Airlines for a buy one, get one free on business class tickets to and from select destinations, valid for bookings before 18 April 2016 and travel by 30 November 2016.
It was reported recently that after several years, Malaysia Airlines recorded their first monthly profit. Looks like they've finally have put the horrors of the disappearance of MH370 and the downing of MH17 behind them. Good luck to MH!
You can access the promotion, and also indicative fares under this promotion, here. This offer is also available on first class, between Kuala Lumpur and London on MH's A380.
And the best part about this offer is that both tickets earn full Enrich miles (which is Malaysia Airlines' frequent flier program). Miles are earned based on the fare class, as follows:
First - F/A - 200% of miles flown
Business - J - 175% of miles flown
Business - C/D - 150% of miles flown
Business - Z - 125% of miles flown

I've also summarised below, the indicative effective per-person fares from India in INR (converted at 1 MYR = INR 17). Note, that you'll have to pay 2x of these amounts if you're booking under this offer.
In particular, I find the fares to Australia quite good, especially considering that these fares are inclusive of taxes and fees. Here's the fare other airlines show for a random date in July 2016, on the BOM-SYD route:
Clearly, Malaysia Airlines is ahead on pricing, though Thai is a close follower. All others are at least 33% more expensive than MH.
Some of the key terms are as follows:
- Companion Seat is valid for Ticket Office, Call Center and Travel Agent, and MH operated flights only (not valid on MH3000 & 9000 series). Free airfare valid only with purchase of adult fare and not applicable with child fare.
- Both passengers are required to travel on the same flight for the outbound journey but may have separate return dates within the travel period.
- Fares include airfare, airport tax, applicable Goods & Services Tax (GST) and fuel surcharge only. Fares shown exclude travel insurance, administrative and travel agent’s fees.
- Certain fares may not be available on all flights but for selected flights only.
- Fares are not applicable during peak period and subject to seat availability.
- Minimum stay of 3 days is required for Southeast Asia, other destinations 5 days with a maximum 3 months stay applied and stopover is not permitted.

Readers: What do you think of these fares? If you could plan travel in advance, would you head out to say Australia to escape what's increasingly looking like an extremely hot summer here in India?
