Air Vistara has some interesting business class deals

Last week, I wrote about Air Vistara offering a 2-for-1 promotion for weekend travel across its network in business class. Here are a couple of more business class offers from their stable.

Business class weekends

The weekend travel offer I wrote about last week was a buy-1-get-2 type of promotion. However, they've updated this to a 50% discount offer, for between 2 and 4 people (the previous offer was always going to be in multiples of 2). The new offer can therefore be used by groups of 3 as well (possibly families too). The booking and travel dates are the same as the old offer, which is on or before 15 May 2016.

Business class upgrades

Air Vistara is also offering upgrades to business class on select routes (for instance, BOM-DEL and DEL-BOM are not covered for this promotion...come to think of it, many routes to or from DEL are not covered). As I understand it, you will need to hold a confirmed ticket in economy class (or premium economy), and you can call up the call centre to request for an upgrade, and pay for it through IVR. You can also do this at the airport check-in counter. Based on my information, this promotion is valid for flights till 1 May 2016, though I expect it will likely be extended. However, you can upgrade only within 48 hours of the flight (and in the case of certain sectors, only within 24 hours of the flight).

I was also told, that the typical upgrade / upsell cost on the BLR-BOM route would be Rs 3,250, when upgrading from economy to business class. If those rates are correct, then this is a fantastic offer, if you're willing to risk it to the last 48/24 hours. That's because, here are the normal price levels in economy, premium economy and business class, on the BLR-BOM route, for 25 April.

Given how light some of these sectors fly on Vistara (which I assume is really the driver for both these promotions) it should be relatively easy to get the upgrade processed within 24/48 hours, as the case may be.

I'm also informed that you could buy an upsell from economy to premium economy, on the BLR-BOM route, for just Rs 750. It is an entirely different matter that at least on this particular sector, premium economy on the direct flight costs less than the economy ticket!

You can get information about these two promotions, here.
