Two potentially stackable Jet Airways discounts

Jet Airways is currently running two discounted fare offers. One is for 20% off on the base fare (including YQ surcharges) on all tickets booked by 6 March 2016 and paid with an American Express credit card. The other is for a 40% discount on select routes in business class. In this post, we'll look at both of these, as well as explore the possibility of stacking them.

20% off for Amex card holders

First off, there's a 20% discount for tickets booked between 4 and 6 March 2016, for travel completed before 31 August 2016. This is for tickets purchased using an American Express credit card, and can be located using the promo code JETAMEX20 when making your reservation on www.jetairways.com.

The 20% discount is on base fare (including YQ), and is valid on both domestic and international routes, and for both one-way and return trips. Basically, no restrictions on those counts. There are specific fare rules that you can locate at the time of booking.

I tried this for a random date on the BOM-DEL sector:

The discount of Rs 1,102 on this route is essentially 20% of the base fare plus the consequent effect of reduced cess (F2).

Up to 40% off on select domestic routes in business class

Jet Airways is also offering a discount of up to 40% on specific routes in business class as part of their Great Premiere Sale. Tickets need to be booked and flights completed by 17 April 2016. This discount is available on the following routes:

The discount is automatically applied when you book Premiere (business class) tickets, so there's no promo code as such for this. However, the discount is not a steady 40%, but depends on the route. The fare class for this offer is P.

I tested random dates for MAA-DEL, for April 2016. As you can clearly see from this screen grab, there's a huge change in rates after the cutoff date of 17 April 2016, though the difference in price is closer to 25% than 40%.

Stacking the two offers

You can actually benefit twice, if you are traveling in business class before 17 April 2016, and book your ticket by 6 March 2016 under the 20% Amex offer I've detailed above. In that case, the ticket price further reduces, as you can see here.

The discount of Rs 8,999 actually works out closer to 21%.

Conclusion

I think now's a great time to book some business class fares, particularly if you can stack the two offers.

Readers: Do let me know if you snag some really good deals on these offers.
