Marriott MegaBonus is back

The next edition of Marriott's MegaBonus promotion is back! As a Marriott Rewards member, you will receive (should have hit your inbox by now) an email informing you of this promotion. The actual promotion is targeted (based on past stay history with Marriott).



Registration is required at Marriott's Promotion Central. The promotion is valid on stays between 15 September 2015 and 15 January 2015.

I've had some good past history with Marriott hotels, but after a change of role at the organisation I work for, I've been staying less at hotels (for that matter, my travel has reduced on the whole). Which probably explains why I got the most common offer that's around, which is for double points on each stay, starting with the second stay, for a maximum of 20,000 bonus points.

There are other promotions also, based on reports out there, including:
  • 25,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights + 2,000 bonus points after each additional night, up to 45,000 bonus points, and
  • 15,000 bonus points after 15 nights, after which 2,000 points a night for a total of 35,000 bonus points.

  • Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn points.

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hyatt was kind enough to hold my bags for the duration of the day (which is a surprise in today's world of terror threats), and I'm grateful to them for that. The Le Meridien has standard and chic rooms as two of their base category rooms. As I mentioned in the introduction post, I booked a chic room on an award. Hotel review: Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium

As part of my recent business visit to Singapore, I spent an extra night there just so I could catch up with friends, some of whom I haven't met in over a decade. And because I needed one more stay to qualify for the bonus under IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion , and also simultaneously earn a few more IHG Rewards Club bonus points under the Book Direct promotion, I decided I was going to spend the extra night at an IHG hotel. Luckily for me, just hours before my flight to Singapore, I was able to get a rate of SG$150++ a night, which is a fantastic rate for Singapore, especially for a booking as late as mine was. Hello from Paris, where my business-and-vacation trip is coming to a close. Vinay is in KUL on work, an Sam has been largely incommunicado.
