Hilton Triple Your Trip promotion is super!

Image
Hilton HHonors has announced its promotion for Q3/Q4 of calendar 2015, which is the annual Triple Your Trip promotion, valid for stays between 1 September and 31 December 2015 . The promotion offers triple points for weekend stays (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and double points for stays Monday through Thursday. Registration is required here . The promotion itself is rather identical to the ones they ran in 2014 and 2013 . The double and triple points are calculated based on the total folio (final bill), averaged out for number of nights, and then applying the bonus. So for instance, if you have a net folio valued at the equivalent of US$ 1000 total for 7 days (an entire week), then: base points = 10,000 (US$ 1000 @ 10 point per eligible $ spent) average base points per night = total base points / number of nights = 10,000 / 7 = 1428 (decimal ignored). Bonus points calculated as: for weekend stays - 2,856 bonus points a night x number of weekend nights (Fri, Sat, Sun) for weekday stay

Seemingly targeted offer for Hilton HHonors Gold (plus add-on benefits)

Image
I received from Etihad (and some of the members of the  Etihad Airways Partners ), what appears to be a targeted offer offering instant Hilton HHonors Gold status till 31 October 2015, as a trial. The more important part of this promotion is the incentive to keep that Hilton HHonors Gold status till March 2017, if you register for this promotion and complete 3 stays before 31 October 2015. There's a customised link for each user, so the link I received is no longer available. However, as this promotion is being run by Hilton through several of its partners, don't be surprised to find an invitation for this promotion through a non-airline source ( LoyaltyLobby reports on a publicly available link for LivingWell customers ).  I signed up (I was HHonors Silver) and was instantly upgraded to Gold, and it reflected on my HHonors account. In my opinion, this is a great offer if you can manage the 3 stays (they only need to be for a night each, at a minimum) before 31 October 2015. A

Marriott Rewards promotion - MR points for social media interactions

Image
Marriott Rewards has launched a new promotion that earns MR points for social media interactions. Conceptually, this promotion is rather similar to the promotion they ran last year , though the specifics this time round are a bit different. This year's promotion is restricted to interactions on Twitter and Instagram. Each interaction earns 25 MR points. Here's broadly how it works: You register for the promotion here , and then connect your Twitter and Instagram accounts to the promotion page. Follow  @MarriottRewards on Twitter and marriottrewards on Instagram . Make sure you regularly follow  @MarriottRewards on Twitter , which provides instructions on how to earn the 25 MR points per interaction. This basically comes tweeting or posting on Instagram with #MRpoints paired with  another hashtag that is specified. You will receive an email confirming the earning of MR points, for every interaction. The FAQs for this promotion carry a note that each #MRpoints promotion is uniqu

Etihad's 96-hour sale ends 27 August 2015

Image
Earlier today, I wrote about Jet Airways' 96-hour sale . Etihad is also offering an almost identical promotion, of up to 30% discounts in both business and economy classes, and is valid for  bookings till 27 August 2015, and travel between 15 September 2015 and 15 June 2016 . However, unlike Jet's promotion (which is targeted at ex-India travel into AUH and mandatorily require connecting on an Etihad flight), there are no such restrictions or requirements here. The sale is valid for both outbound from and inbound into India. Etihad's promotion also offers 2x miles for economy class and 3x miles for business class bookings. However, the bonus miles apply only to the segments flown on Etihad, and not partner airlines. You can check out Etihad's network (throughout which this offer applies) and make bookings, here . The main T&Cs are: The fares mentioned above are ‘starting from’ fares and are valid for booking until 27 August 2015 and for travel as shown above.  These

Jet Airways' 96-hour sale ends 27 August 2015

Jet Airways (Etihad's feeder service)  announced a 96-hour sale yesterday, which offers up to 30% discounts in both business and economy classes, and is valid for bookings till 27 August 2015, and travel between 15 September 2015 and 15 June 2016 .  Jet Airways' promotion One key aspect here is that the travel should connect via Abu Dhabi (which means there HAS to be a connecting flight on Etihad), and the discounted fare is offered only for select fare classes. On that note, here are the T&Cs: Travel from India to international destinations must be via Abu Dhabi Discount is offered on routes operated by Jet Airways and Etihad Airways Offer applicable on one way and return flights Travel not permitted during black out period as mentioned in the respective fare rule Date or flight change and refund will be subject to charge as per fare rules Discount is offered only on base fare, for travel in Première and Economy Discounted fare is offered for booking in select booking clas

IHG's "Accelerate" promotion for fall 2015 - minimum 50k points or up to 2 nights for new members

Image
IHG has announced its promotion for fall of 2015, called Accelerate, valid for stays between 1 September and 31 December 2015 . As with previous IHG promotions (such as this and this ), the promotion for existing members is based on various "goals" that need to be achieved, each of which carries a certain amount of bonus. And a further bonus if you complete a specified minimum number of "goals". Like this offer that I received: Here's another offer for just 2,600 more points, but with 5 "goals". However, to my mind, this seems easier to achieve, from an India point of view. For new members, the promotion is a free night's stay (max 2 free nights) for every 2 nights' paid stay. This promotion for new members applies only if you join the program now. Registration for the promotion, or signing up for the program as a new member under this promotion, can be done here . Each "goal" has its own terms and conditions which you must be aware

Big changes coming to Etihad (and they aren't what's being advertised)

Image
A little while back, Etihad made an announcement that made me stand up and take notice. The announcement mail even opened with a promising: When it comes to booking a flight, not everyone has the same needs. Some guests like to travel light and on a budget, whilst others may want to make last-minute travel decisions, or carry extra baggage. From 14 September we will introduce Fare Choices, offering you the option to choose your ticket flexibility, baggage allowance, and many other benefits. Now you can select a fare with the relevant services, giving you the power to pay for what you really need. And I wondered...is Etihad the first of the big boys to join the unbundling bandwagon, that the low-cost carriers have perfected to almost an art? But more about my views, later...first the facts. For bookings made starting 14 September 2015, each fare class on Etihad will carry its own eligibility regarding various aspects of travel, such as miles earned, hand baggage allowance, checked in ba
