I've been tied up with some work (who isn't?) and there's every chance I've not posted about some of the stuff that's happening in the aviation space - mainly in India, but some overseas as well. So here's a quick list of things I may not have specifically written about.

Hotel perspective: TownePlace Suites, Vancouver, Washington

On a recent trip to the US, I got to stay - for the first time - at a TownePlace Suites Hotel from the Marriott family. It was interesting for me, never having stayed at this sub-brand of hotels before, though they seem to be quite common place all across North America. For that reason, this might prove to be an interesting read for folks headed there or planning trips to the US and contemplating staying at one of these kind of properties.  Which is also why I've titled this post "perspective" rather than "review". Update on Marriott promo for social media interactions

A couple of months back, Marriott announced Marriott Rewards Plus, a promotion that offered Marriott Rewards points for social media interactions . You could earn points quite easily by: joining the promotion sharing or retweeting Marriott's posts to your Facebook or Twitter feeds each day checking into properties on Facebook or Foursquare every day you visit posting a photo each day to Instagram and tagging it with a property’s location using #LoveMarriottRewards, #RenHotels or #Autograph in your daily Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts liking and following select brands and properties in Facebook or Twitter You could earn a maximum of 2,000 points every 30 days till November 2014, making it a total of 12,000 points virtually free. But a lot of that has changed, suddenly and quite drastically. The biggest changes (easiest earning ops) are: no more 250 points for "liking" a Marriott property's Facebook page or following it on Twitter, sharing or re-tweeting content...

Smoking areas at Indian airports

I know its a dirty habit, but it has been around for nearly 7000 years! Granted, aviation is only a little over a 100 years old, but there always will be smokers. So here’s a low-down on smoking rules and areas in some airports: New Delhi  Terminal 1D (Domestic): Available, after security. Go to the food court on the first floor. The smoking room has been relocated to the ground level (all boarding gates) and is near the crew security area opposite Gate 13. Terminal 3 (Domestic): Available, after security. There’s one on the first floor – between the eateries and the lounges, one on the left just before the ramp towards the gates (at the end of the food stalls), and one behind the flight display screens between the left and right concourses. Terminal 3 (International): Smoking areas are available only at the concourses to gates. There's one on the right at the beginning of the right concourse, and one in the middle on the "D" pier.
