Now earn JP miles for cruises

Jet Escapes - the vacation package arm of Jet Airways - has now tied up with Royal Caribbean International to offer cruise packages that will also earn some JP miles along the way.



Now, I don't want to sound like I'm peddling JP stuff (I am not!), but this stuff is interesting. Jet Escapes has a rather good list of travel packages they've put together, and each of them generally earns 5 JP miles per Rs 100 spent on the package. That makes it a useful additional benefit to have. 

In addition, booking a package takes out of the equation
  • the price fluctuations (flights and hotels) and 
  • the time & effort spent on planning/coordinating the trip out of the equation. 

And it is often cheaper, if you're indifferent to some aspects (like which hotel chain you're staying with).

A few years back, I did book a package with Jet Escapes, simply because I didn't have the time to plan out the trip on my own (which, BTW is something I really love to do), and I found it pretty good.

Update on Marriott promo for social media interactions

A couple of months back, Marriott announced Marriott Rewards Plus, a promotion that offered Marriott Rewards points for social media interactions . You could earn points quite easily by: joining the promotion sharing or retweeting Marriott's posts to your Facebook or Twitter feeds each day checking into properties on Facebook or Foursquare every day you visit posting a photo each day to Instagram and tagging it with a property’s location using #LoveMarriottRewards, #RenHotels or #Autograph in your daily Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts liking and following select brands and properties in Facebook or Twitter You could earn a maximum of 2,000 points every 30 days till November 2014, making it a total of 12,000 points virtually free. But a lot of that has changed, suddenly and quite drastically. Smoking areas at Indian airports

I know its a dirty habit, but it has been around for nearly 7000 years! Granted, aviation is only a little over a 100 years old, but there always will be smokers. So here’s a low-down on smoking rules and areas in some airports: New Delhi  Terminal 1D (Domestic): Available, after security. Go to the food court on the first floor. The smoking room has been relocated to the ground level (all boarding gates) and is near the crew security area opposite Gate 13. Terminal 3 (Domestic): Available, after security. There’s one on the first floor – between the eateries and the lounges, one on the left just before the ramp towards the gates (at the end of the food stalls), and one behind the flight display screens between the left and right concourses.
