Amex India offers: Two free Uber trips, Air France discounts

If you have an American Express credit card in India, now's the time for some quick freebies!

First up, Uber is offering two free rides of up to Rs 600 each, for bookings done on the Uber app and paid for with an Amex card.



The promotion code for this offer is AMEXUBER, which can be applied on existing accounts also, provided an Amex card is associated to your Uber account. If you don't have a Uber account yet, you can sign up for it here. If you wish to, you can also use my promo code - ubermilesandevenmore - and get a further credit of Rs 300 (as will I). You don't need to do this, but if you do, I'm grateful for your support.

The second offer is from Air France, for travel from India (BOM, DEL and BLR) to Europe and North America. There are discounts of Rs 4,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 10,000 for in economy, premium economy and business class respectively, when ticketed using an Amex card. This is available for bookings till 30 September 2014, for travel commencing on/before 31 December 2014 and completing on/before 31 July 2015.


You will need to book online at www.airfrance.in, and use one of the following codes, depending on your class of travel.

Discount Code (Business): AFAMXCJ690

Some of the key T&Cs are below, and you can check out the full T&Cs here:
  • Offer is valid for travel on Air France flight numbers operated by Air France, KLM or Delta Airlines. 
  • Discount Code is to be entered on the personal information page by clicking on the "Advantage Code" link. 
  • Ticket must be purchased until 30 September 2014.
  • Travel must commence on/before 31 December 2014 and be completed on/before 31 July 2015.
  • Offer is only valid if the minimum purchase amount (excluding taxes and surcharges) is INR 20000 in Economy, INR 40000 in Premium Economy and INR 110000 in Business Class. 
  • Offer can only be availed by using an “American Express” Credit Card. The discount does not apply for the Time-to-Think option. 
  • Offer is valid on first come first serve basis, up to a maximum usage of 200 times for Economy, 100 times for Premium Economy and 50 times for Business Class. 
  • Discount is applicable only for 1 passenger per booking. For multiple passengers travelling, please ensure multiple bookings are made to avail of the discount.
  • Promotion does not apply for Group Fares, One Way Fares, Child / Infant Fares, SkyTeam Round the World Fares, SkyTeam Europe Pass.

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day's sightseeing. Hyatt was kind enough to hold my bags for the duration of the day (which is a surprise in today's world of terror threats), and I'm grateful to them for that. Hotel review: Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium

As part of my recent business visit to Singapore, I spent an extra night there just so I could catch up with friends, some of whom I haven't met in over a decade. And because I needed one more stay to qualify for the bonus under IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion , and also simultaneously earn a few more IHG Rewards Club bonus points under the Book Direct promotion, I decided I was going to spend the extra night at an IHG hotel. Luckily for me, just hours before my flight to Singapore, I was able to get a rate of SG$150++ a night, which is a fantastic rate for Singapore, especially for a booking as late as mine was.
