Etihad's next expansion

I am working on a broader post on this, but I came across this piece of information just now. And though this blog is significantly India-oriented, I mention it because it relates to Etihad, and if you're travelling in Philippines, this might interest you.

Etihad has forged a partnership with Philippine Airlines, which entitles Etihad Guest members to reciprocal benefits when flying on Philippine Airlines services. This includes earning and burning Etihad miles on Philippine Airlines, and recognition of Etihad Guest tier benefits.

Announcing the launch, Etihad says:

Philippine Airlines and Etihad Airways will have a joint codeshare services between Manila and Abu Dhabi as well as on Philippine Airlines domestic services to 20 cities across the country including stunning holiday destinations such as Cebu, Palawan and Kalibo (For Boracay Island).

As a promotion to celebrate this partnership, you can earn double Etihad Guest Miles for travel from September to October on any Philippine Airlines flights, including codeshare flights from Manila to Abu Dhabi, regional and domestic flights from and within the Philippines.

I travel to Manila once every couple of years or so, on some fairly routine work. I also got Etihad Guest Gold status recently, which might be helpful to me on those trips. Let's hope I have something to report on this, sooner than later!
