Did you know about this offer from Jet? Also, SpiceJet's sale for 2015 - last day to book
I had a very small number of JP Miles expiring in June 2014, which I let go because there is really only so much you can do with 744 miles! I was (and continue to be) more worried about losing 22k miles due to expiry, in September 2014. Which is about the time I received this mail from JP:
Sure enough:
We thank you for your participation in the special JPMiles Extension Offer (Fly twice with Jet Airways or JetKonnect on domestic or international sectors). As a commitment made to you for achieving the promotion criteria, we are pleased to inform you that we are extending the validity of your JPMiles that expired on June 30, 2014, for another 3 months. The new validity of your JPMiles is till September 30, 2014.
I had never heard of such a promotion from Jet, and so I found this surprising. It was only much later that I did a search, and found this on the T&Cs:
9.15.3 JetPrivilege Platinum members enjoy the benefit of 'Non-expiry of JPMiles'. Hence, should you complete the Tier Points/Tier JPMiles required for an upgrade to the JetPrivilege Platinum tier, prior to mileage expiry date, the validity of your existing JPMiles will be further extended.
That doesn't apply to me, as I'm not JP Platinum any more. However, this did seem a bit more promising:
9.15.5 Special JPMiles extension offer:
The required number of flights mentioned in the newsletter / emailer, on Jet Airways / JetKonnect under this offer, must be completed between February 23 and March 31, 2014.
The above travel must be undertaken on revenue tickets, which are eligible for JPMiles earning.
Jet Airways or JetKonnect flights undertaken prior or post the above-mentioned offer period will not qualify for this offer.
Travel undertaken on partner airlines or partner airline code-share flights with Jet Airways/JetKonnect will not qualify for this offer.
Your JetPrivilege membership number must be recorded in your booking and/or at check-in.
A flight activity credit claimed on a retro-active basis will be considered as an eligible activity for mileage extension, only if the JetPrivilege membership number has been quoted in the booking and/or at check-in. Retro-credit for such activity(s) must be claimed on or before April 01, 2014.
I'd have thought that this applied only for miles expiring by 31 March 2014. Also, I did not receive any email on these lines, and that makes it only more strange. My guess is this is system driven, and after Etihad acquired a majority stake in the JP program, they're trying to hold on to customers. Also, this could well be influenced by Air India joining Star Alliance, and therefore providing more opportunities for Star Alliance members as well as AI Flying returns members.
Have you had a similar experience with JP lately?
Here are the main T&Cs:
There were 1 million tickets put up for sale, and last heard, they were still available on key routes. This isn't a good offer for me personally, seeing as it is that much of my travel is largely unscheduled (even unknown) up until a week before travel. However, YMMV - in this case, for the better!
