Airfare sales in India never seem to end

Sales, discounts, promo codes...call it what you want, there's a slew of price-offs for air tickets in India, as of now. Some are in response to sales by other airlines, but things have been happening thick and fast, and so it is really difficult to say which came first!

Nonetheless, I thought I'd summarise some of these for the benefit of readers. As with any sales, the terms and conditions require a keen eye, so do consider yourself warned!

Jet Airways

Jet currently has a 25% discount for domestic flights, for bookings made till 3 August 2014, for travel between 6 January 2015 and 15 June 2015.

The discount applies to both the base fare and fuel surcharge, but is valid only on booking class "O", for which there's usually only very limited inventory.

Here are the T&Cs (you can see them online and book tickets here):
  • 25% discount is offered on flights within India*
  • Valid for travel in Economy on flights operated by Jet Airways and JetKonnect
  • Tickets must be purchased on or before August 3, 2014
  • Travel must commence on or after January 6, 2015 and on or before June 15, 2015
  • Discount is applicable on select booking class "O" only
  • Child and infant discount is not permitted
  • Date change charges will be applicable as per the respective fare rule
  • Tickets purchased under this offer are non-refundable
  • Limited seats available on a first – come - first – serve basis
  • Jet Airways reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time without prior notice

SpiceJet

SpiceJet recently ran a Super Sale for tickets starting Rs 2,099 all-in, which has been extended till 3 August 2014. However, this time the sale is for domestic travel between 1 September 2014 and 15 December 2014, and there's limited inventory

Check out the specific destinations, T&Cs and booking engine, here.
  • Fare displayed above is all inclusive one way starting fare
  • Fares vary from sector to sector depending on the travel distance
  • The sale is applicable for bookings made between 31st July, 2014 and 3rd August, 2014 and for travel between 1stSeptember, 2014 and 15th December, 2014
  • Blackout dates are applicable
  • Super Sale is valid for travel on Direct, Via & Onward domestic flights only
  • Super Sale is not valid on international flights
  • Super Sale is a limited-inventory sale available on first-come-first-served basis
  • The sale is only applicable on bookings made on www.spicejet.com, online travel portals and through travel agents. The sale is not available at SpiceJet's call centre and at Airport Ticketing Offices.
  • The sale is not applicable on group bookings (group booking is when there are 10 or more passengers travelling on the same PNR)
  • Sale shall not be applicable for bookings made for infant(s)
  • These fares are non-refundable fares. For any changes made in the booking, a change fee and difference of fare would be borne by the passenger.
  • Flight schedules and timings are subject to regulatory approvals and change(s)
  • For detailed terms and conditions, log on to www.spicejet.com

Indigo

Finally, there are some promo codes from Indigo, for 10% off on the base fare when using select credit cards for your booking.

The T&Cs suggest this offer may be targeted, but it is worth checking out, given that some of Indigo's routes and also timings are often quite convenient. Validity is varied, but interestingly, this applies for ex-DXB bookings also, which the other airlines above seem to have excluded. The promo codes are stated in the image above, which need to be input at the time of booking.

The T&Cs are on the offer page, and are summarised below:
  • The 10% discount on base fare (offer) is valid for bookings done on www.goindigo.in.
  • The published base fare will be discounted by 10% on using the discount code mentioned above for each participating bank
  • The offer is valid for select cardholders only
  • Tickets booked for infants cannot be included to avail of the offer.
  • The discount is calculated only on the base fare. All surcharges and taxes as applicable are payable extra and are not discounted.
  • Please note that the promo code cannot be applied after the ticket has been issued. Please contact our customer care centre in case you face any problem in applying the promo code
  • The terms and conditions of this promotion are subject to change without any prior notice.
  • Participating Bank Cardholders are not bound in any way to participate in this offer. Any participation is voluntary and the offer is being made purely on a 'best effort' basis.
  • The bookings/issuance of tickets shall be as per the terms and conditions of IndiGo and the conditions of carriage of IndiGo provided on www.goindigo.in
  • This offer cannot be combined with any other offer/promotion
  • Banks and IndiGo reserve the right at any time, without prior notice to add, alter, modify, change or vary all or any of these terms and conditions or to replace wholly or in part, the above offer by another offer, whether similar to above offer or not, or to withdraw it altogether.

There's also a smaller promotion for bookings done using the Indigo app, but that only gives you a Rs 200 discount on the base fare, so it really isn't worth writing much about.

UPDATE:

A few minutes after the above post was published, Indigo has announced a promotion for tickets starting at Rs 1,755 (though to be fair, very few sectors are available at that price). This is valid for bookings till 4 August 2014, for travel between 1 September 2014 and 15 December 2014.

I couldn't find a separate landing page for this offer. Instead, this is valid for all bookings made on the Indigo website, and the promotional fares will load automatically.
