What’s been happening, and what’s coming up

I’ve been out and about, you can say that. But before I get into any of that, AJ of Live From a Lounge got engaged in Paris some time last week. So congratulations are in order! You can also read about his planning of the trip here, some of which reminds me of tons of instances trying to upgrade on 9W using miles or vouchers.

I’ve had a bit of a torrid affair with travel in general, and international travel in particular, these last couple of weeks. I was in Delhi (DEL) for a day a couple of Thursdays back, followed by a week’s work trip to Almaty (ALA) in Kazakhstan.

I then returned to base (MAA) for a couple of days, and left for Dubai (DXB) right after. For both ALA and DXB, I had to fly with stops (I did have a direct to/from DXB on EK, but the timings didn’t work out all that well), and so that meant a total of 8 business class flights (6 of which were on 9W).

And while that explains the near-complete absence of updates on the blog in the last 14 days or so, it has also given me enough material to write about, especially because the travels to both ALA and DXB were entirely in business class (paid for by clients!!!). So here’s what’s coming up.

I will write about both trips in parts, not just because a single post will likely bore you to death, but also given that there is quite a lot to write about and not enough time (I’m back to work, and also have some more travel – in economy – coming up).

I expect that the batting order of posts will be something like this (subject to change, but even so, all these will be covered in one form or another):

  1. MAA-DEL on Jet Airways 9W 822, and transit in DEL
  2. DEL-ALA on Air Astana KC 908
  3. The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty - hotel review
  4. Almaty airport departures and Business Class lounge review
  5. ALA-DEL on Air Astana KC 907 (aka 7 am is sparkling wine time), and transit in DEL
  6. DEL-MAA on Jet Airways 9W 822

At the end of that, if you continue to visit this blog (!!!), you can expect to read about:
