My favourite elite status story

Despite what I said about not actively looking to renew my elite status, I must admit that elite status with loyalty programs is always good to have. Which is why it always makes for a great story when you read about ingenious, fascinating or simply brilliant ways to maximise points, miles or elite status in general.

And when you read a story like Will's, you'll agree with me that it combines all three of those adjectives! This is a bit old, but is an evergreen one to me. Will is a reader of Head For Points, and this story was reported there. It truly warms the heart to find out that there are people that can game the system like him!

Hilton is giving away up to 4x points as part of its More Nights More Points promotion this Q4 of 2013, for stays of 2 or more nights. This is valid for stays from 10 October 2013 to 31 January 2014. Registration is required. No bonus points for one-night stays. And there is no limit to the number of points you can earn under this promotion. IHG promotion for 2x points on all in-hotel spends

IHG's Accelerate 2016 promotion will close by the end of April 2016. And while they've announced the next promotion - Share Forever - which is applicable to residents in North and South America, there isn't a specific promotion for other geographies, except for the book directly promotion that offers up to 30,000 points for 3 stays in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Instead, IHG has come up with a promotion that rewards members with 2x IHG Rewards Club points on all in-hotel spending, till 31 December 2016. So instead of the usual 10 points per $, members will earn 20 points per $ spent on all in-hotel items added to the folio.
