Marriott's Summer promotion - up to 25k bonus points

Close on the heels of summer promotions for 2014 announced by Hilton, IHG, and SPG, Marriott has now announced "Getaway bonus", their own promotion for the summer of 2014.

This is valid for stays between 1 June 2014 and 31 August 2014, so it isn't exactly a "summer" offer, in my view! You need to register here to be eligible for this promotion, and do so by 31 July 2014 (though you could / should register right away, if you can).

The base promotion is for double points, up to a maximum of 25,000 bonus points. However, you may be targeted for a different promotion, based on past stays with Marriott. So you might qualify for one of these instead:
  • 20,000 bonus points after 12 paid nights + 10,000 points after 18 paid nights
= total of 30,000 bonus points
  • 25,000 bonus points after 15 paid nights + 10,000 points after 20 paid nights
= total of 35,000 bonus points
  • 35,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights + 10,000 points after 25 paid nights
= total of 45,000 bonus points

You'll know which promotion you're eligible for, once you sign in to Marriott Rewards Promotion Central. I got the base offer for 25k points.

I don't stay much with Marriott - in fact, after a really long time, I had two stays with them in February and March 2014, which was just about enough to qualify for the MegaBonus promotion that they were running at the time, and so I earned a certificate for one night's stay. So under this summer promotion, I haven't been targeted for any higher level of bonuses.

So what are 25,000 points worth? Generally, 25k points means one night's stay at a Category 5 hotel under the normal rewards, or one night at a Category 6 hotel under PointSavers awards. Do look up the full set of reward categories here.

The full T&Cs are here, but some of the important ones are

  • you will be eligible for the bonuses only if you select points earning as your option, and not miles; so please ensure that this option is set accordingly.
  • Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit.
  • Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.

Unlike the MegaBonus promotion they ran a few months back, this time there are no stay certificates on offer.

What bonus offer did you get?
