Why earn 1 when you can earn 2 (or maybe 3)? I'm talking Starpoints

Starwood's new promo for May-July of 2014 is the Earn Away Get Away promotion, which will earn you 2x the points on all eligible stays, and 3x points if that stay includes a Sunday (Saturday in the Middle East). That means 4 Starpoints (or 6 for Sunday) per $1 of spend. At a time when SPG earn rates are rather low, and some redemptions have been made more expensive (ie, devaluing poinf), I think this is a good time to earn some points. This promo comes into effect as soon as the Bring On the Nights promotion ends on 30 April 2014, though registration for that promotion ended in February.

Registration is required by 30 June 2014, and you can register at the landing page here.

I think this is a rather good promotion, particularly given that India hasn't been affected much by the recent changes to the redemption part of the SPG program. Also, I've recently been contemplating my loyalty, so it is promos like these that perk up my day. In fact, I might well have one stay coming up tomorrow at an SPG property.

Do note, that award stays and cash-and-points stays won't count for the offer. Here are the full T&Cs. Do note, that booking on third-party travel sites, such as Booking.com or Expedia, will not earn Starpoints. And here's the list of non-participating properties, though I find that only 4 of Starwood's hotels in India are not participating in this promotion, which are:
  • Four Points by Sheraton Visakhapatnam
  • ITC Rajputana, Jaipur
  • The Westin Gurgaon, New Delhi
  • The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa

This does look like a rather good promo. What do you think?
