A380's love affair with Hyderabad
There's been recent news about the Indian Government lifting the ban on commercial A380s flying into India, though implementing this will be fraught with some difficulty. I don't believe we will see a commercial A380 in India any time soon (by that, I mean end 2014), and I've said it before too.
But that doesn't mean *no* A380s will come into India till then. As a matter of fact, one of them - and and Emirates A380, nothing less - will be in India next month at the Hyderabad air show.
I'm trying to get passes to the show, and if I get an extra one (after the one for myself, that is!), I'll probably give it out to one of my readers.
This isn't the first time either, that an A380 is in Hyderabad. It was October 2011 when the A380 first came there - again, at the Hyderabad air show that year- but at that time it was just Airbus' sample plane, devoid of the exotic interiors that today's commercial A380 showcase. A month or so later, a DXB-bound Emirates A380 aircraft made an emergency landing, again at Hyderabad. At least the runways seem to have passed the tests, for A380s to land in Hyderabad, if not the rest of India!
On another note (or another love affair, though one that's not the rosiest) related to the Hyderabad air show, Air India's 13th Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will fly directly from Boeing in Seattle, to the air show. Somehow, I don't have a good feeling about the AI-Dreamliner story till date, what with all the mishaps, defects, et al. This next aircraft is the 13th too. I suppose someone will walk under a ladder in front of a black cat, before boarding the aircraft? Reminds me of this awesome video from the 80s !
