Spicejet Super Sale - round 2 - starts today (31 Jan)

Did you miss out on the madness unofficially called the Great Indian Airfare Sale last week (January 21)? If you did, don't fret. SpiceJet has announced another sale, though not as good as the earlier one.

The offer is a 30% off on bookings made between 31 January and 2 February 2014, valid for travel on Monday through Thursday, with a 30 day advance purchase. This is for a limited number of seats. To be honest, there's no great conceptual difference in these key terms, between this round 2 and the earlier one, but for the fact that this round is only for 30% off and not 50%.

This isn't a great period for airlines in India, so any way to build capacity and generate some cash may be a good idea. On the one hand, I think this round 2 has come back way too soon. On the other, I'm not sure if the other airlines will join this with a round 2 of their own, to match SpiceJet's offer. Let's see.

Here are the full T&Cs:
  • SpiceJet Super Sale is valid on all direct flights on SpiceJet’s domestic network. Connecting and Via flights shall not feature in Super Sale. Super Sale is not applicable on International flights. 
  • SpiceJet will offer 30% discount on base fare and fuel surcharge on the ticket. All applicable fees & taxes, etc., to be paid by the customer. 
  • Minimum 30 days advance purchase is required to avail of the Super Sale fares. 
  • Super Sale is a 3 day offer for bookings made between 31st January, 2014 and 2nd February, 2014. 
  • Super Sale is valid for travel only on the following days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 
  • The scheme shall be valid for travel including and up to 15th April, 2014. 
  • Seats are subject to availability. 
  • Super Sale is not valid for infant or group bookings (10 passengers or more traveling together). 
  • Super Sale cannot be clubbed with any other existing offer. 
  • Super Sale is available on www.spicejet.com, online travel portals, and through travel agents. It is NOT available through SpiceJet’s Sales and Reservation Centre or at our Airport Ticketing Offices. 
  • Changes/Cancellation in the bookings made under Super Sale offer can be made upon payment of applicable change/cancellation fee along with difference in fare as applicable. 
  • SpiceJet reserves the right to modify, alter, amend or change any of the terms and conditions made applicable to the program at any time without notice, and it also reserves the right to withdraw the offer without prior notice.

    50% off at Marriott in Thailand, for one night

    Marriott is offering a 50% off for a single night, till 31 July 2014, in exchange for registering for / subscribing to their eNewsletter. I'm not sure what the connection is, but I think the fact that it is for a single night's stay may well be suggestive of promoting Thai tourism, if you know my meaning... But well...its there to be had. I know this isn't exactly an India-focussed deal, but I'm looking at another trip to BKK soon, and I think there could be others who might benefit from this. The 50% off is on the highest available rate. Bookings cannot be done online. Instead, it will have to be done by emailing bookmarriott@marriotthotels.com or by calling the hotel and quoting your cluster code (which is D58) and the voucher number (see steps below for getting the voucher).     Qatar, Etihad and Gulf Air fare sales - ending soon

    Three of the Middle-East based airlines are currently running fare sales. While Qatar's and Etihad's sales end on 5 and 6 September 2016 respectively (yeah, in a couple of days), Gulf Air's sale has only just begun. Here is more info on these sales, from an ex-India perspective. Qatar's Travel Festival Qatar's running a Travel Festival sale , offering up to 50% discounts on various routes, in business and economy classes. What's more, sales during this period will also earn 3x Qmiles, on Qatar's Privilege Club frequent flyer program. Book by 5 September, travel between 15 September 2016 and 30 June 2017. The sale offers discounts for one-person travel, and special fares when you travel in groups of 2 or 3 persons.
