Finally, an Indian carrier celebrates ID (as does CX)
Over the last two days, I've written about how Indian carriers aren't doing much to celebrate Independence Day (not that they must), but strangely a couple of international carriers did. You can read about those posts and the offers, here and here. Finally, SpiceJet has started toeing this line, with its offer to waive 100% of the base fare, for serving and retired Indian Armed Forces and paramilitary personnel and their immediate family members, valid for bookings till 31 August 2013, and travel till 30 September 2013.

- Offer valid on bookings done on www.spicejet.com only.
- 100% discount on base fare only. All applicable fees/taxes payable.
- This offer is applicable to serving and retired Indian Armed Forces and paramilitary personnel and their immediate family members.
- Offer valid for all domestic flights.
- Offer valid for bookings from 15th August 2013 to 31st August 2013. Travel valid from 15th August 2013 to 30th September 2013.
- Guest and their immediate family members are required to carry an Identity card of "Indian Armed Forces" which will be checked at the airport at the time of check-in.Guests not in possession of the valid ID can be denied for boarding.
- Offer valid on one-way and round-trip bookings.
- Offer valid for individual adults and children. Not applicable for Infants or group bookings.
- Tickets booked under the offer are non-transferable - No name changes permitted.

- Any disputes arising out of this offer between the passenger & SpiceJet shall be subject to arbitration under the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 including any statutory amendments carried thereof. Arbitration shall be conducted by a sole arbitrator appointed by SpiceJet for this purpose and the award of the arbitrator shall be final and binding on the passenger. The place of arbitration shall be New Delhi and the language of arbitration shall be English. Existence of a dispute, if any, shall not constitute a claim against SpiceJet.
Also, Cathay Pacific has a Freedom offer - Freedom to Change, which offers free date changes for tickets booked till 19 August 2013.

- Under this offer date change penalty will be waived off for the bookings made and tickets issued between 14 August 2013 and 19 August 2013 only.
- Any difference in fare for a date/flight/sector change will have to paid by the passenger.
- The fare rules for the fare used will determine the refund and any other fees/charges applicable.
- This offer is valid only for bookings made on cathaypacific.in with INR currency for journey starting from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
- ** Flights from Bengaluru and Kolkata to Hong Kong are operated by our full service sister-airline Dragonair.
- Cathay Pacific also reserves the right to withdraw or discontinue with the Promotion/offer at any stage without any liability whatsoever to the participant and, or, anyone.

Finally, good to see an Indian airline doing this, and the CX offer is OK, I suppose...
