Hyatt's new promotion goes live on 1 April 2016

Hyatt's next promotion is called "Stay More, Play More", and starts tomorrow. While the promotion was announced in advance to members, the registration page opened up only some time in the last 24 hours, which is why we didn't write about it earlier. The promotion is valid for stays between 1 April 2016 and 30 June 2016, and happens to be Hyatt Gold Passport's first major promotion in nearly 9 months.

Registration is required for this promotion, which can be done here.

Under this promotion, you will earn points in step-levels, after completing a determined number of stays, as follows:

StayEarnTotal Points Earned
5 Nights+ 5,000 Points= 5,000
10 Nights+ 10,000 Points= 15,000
15 Nights+ 15,000 Points= 30,000
20 Nights+ 20,000 Points= 50,000
25 Nights+ 25,000 Points= 75,000
So, if you are able to use this promotion to the fullest, you can earn 75,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points. Based on our January 2016 valuations, a Hyatt Gold Passport point is valued at Rs 0.70, so 75,000 points would be the equivalent of about Rs 52,500, or Rs 2,100 a night for each night stayed under this promotion. That's a brilliant rate of return...provided you utilise those points for meaningful redemptions.

Hyatt's India hotels are across categories 1 to 4. However, two-thirds of Hyatt's 24 hotels in India are in Category 1 or 2, meaning they cost 5,000 or 8,000 points a night for an award stay. The total points under this bonus would mean 15 nights in a category 1 hotel or 9 nights in a category 2 hotel. The reason I mention only categories 1 and 2 is that, from a cash price point of view, categories 3 and 4 offer lower value per point on award nights. However, that's not to say that you shouldn't try them out.

Here's the summary of where Hyatt's India hotels lie in terms of redemption category:

I haven't stayed much at Hyatt over the years, and one of the reasons for that is that my hotel points are already quite significantly distributed. I don't want to dilute that, but at the same time, I'm hoping to put my recently acquired Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond status and the 4 confirmed suite upgrades, to good use!

In all, I'd say that going by value, this is a great promotion, especially if you like staying at Hyatt hotels or are a reasonably active Hyatt Gold Passport member.

Readers: Does this promotion interest you sufficiently to spend a few nights at Hyatt during the promotion period and/or to move some of your stays over to Hyatt?
